Really? Burton WAS NOT, HAVE NOT, been given enough time to show his worth. Oh well, he will not sign. Well done, Ivan, if that turns out to be the case.
Every player is coming to work every day and the coach is watching, and we on this forum are not. Being a first grade head coach with great experience, and with plenty of knowledgeable assistants, the coach is able to get a picture of what each player in the squad can and cannot do, and what the team needs. Nine wins and a draw from 11 games, the best in this club's 54 year history, says he knows what he is doing. The situation will have been discussed with all the players, especially those outside the regular 17, with the result that three players who haven't taken the field in quite some time, all performed well when called upon. Burton is no different to anyone else. He can show his worth every day at training. He has to be patient and the rewards will come his way. One day maybe he'll look back on this year as character building.

It's the serious lack of imagination from Ivan when we were desperate for something in attack during the second half that only didn't cost us because it was the Titans.

So many options. Put him at fullback like Crichton earlier in the year. Luai has successfully played tests at 9 giving us some spark there so Kenny can get a rest.

Did that second half look like the kind of conditions that you try fancy stuff?

That's not what I meant.

Critta off the bench a game changer. 1st touch against the chooks scores.

Burton doesn't play that type of game. He's more of a Cleary type, steady strong....

Last time he was put on 1 try acored in the corner within the first couple of minutes he was on.

He's a game changer. But we don't need that type of game changer at the end of games LOL
I call bullshit.

He got the three points in his last start. In the last ten minutes against parra he gets thrown on and puts Martin straight through a hole. 2 weeks later he’s dropped for a guy who was out for 18 months.
...who was one of our best today.

he hasn’t done enough to force his way into the side and the others are all playing well enough to not get dropped.

I get that he’s one of your favourite players, he’s also one of mine, but look at the reality.

This.
He has his 1st full time pre season this year. He is still growing and learning.
Under normal circumstances he would toil away in reserves and wait for his chance.
Clubs rarely change their spine mid match for good reason. Especially when the game is on the line

No Kikau, Api, Whare, Tetevano and Edwards. It wasn't a perfect performance but I will still take the win.

I think it’s great there’s fans that are hungry for even more improvement, I hope the team has the same attitude. Great teams aren’t just satisfied with winning, they want to crush the opponent.

This is it. You gotta be ruthless. There's a reason all but 4 GF in the NRL have featured either Roosters or Storm.

He’s not still growing. He’s 20 years of age.

Wow another win, top of the ladder and from what I read many are not happy.

Maybe it is just me but in the past 51 years we haven’t always been travelling this well.

Maybe the wheels will fall off shortly and we will miss the top 8.

Ive enjoyed the ride thus far, sort off unexpected in many ways but yes it was good while it lasted.

He is not going to stop at his current weight. He will add a few kilos on and some muscle mass.
Look at Cleary aged 20 to now.

For what it is worth I stopped growing aged 21. I know that because I over took my Father at that age.
That was a long time ago.

All but 4 GFs have featured Storm or Roosters in the NRL era. We haven't won in nearly 20 years and have been a mid table team for 6 years. Some people want more.

We probably only need to win 2 more games to make the finals.

A guy out 18 months and not including this game had played less than a total of 80 mins off the bench. And played lock,2nd row, hooker and center with 2 try assist.

May is still a better 14 than Burton despite being out 18 months.

Sure, but that’s not growth, it’s adding bulk.

Growth impacts your coordination, where as the bulk he adds can be managed. He doesn’t need much more weight if he’s going to play in the halves.

He came on and put Martin through a gap in the eels game at Lock. Don't need fancy just need genuine skill.

and Luai went off then for that too happen and we needed a try. We were never in total control were infront so could play it basic. Ricky Stuart's 4th benchie got no time last night either
