This time last year we were all praising Wes and hoping he'd be resigned, what a difference 12 months makes.
that's just it, isn't it. aside from a handful of players, every single bloke in our squad has gone backwards a long, long way this year. they are not responding to Bennetts coaching, and questions need to be asked at some stage. we can't just keep turning these performances in until round 26, something has to change. it's just absurd.

Personally i was a lot more happy this week than last week. I was very proud of the boys fight back today, we werebetter for 40 minutes of the game. It was disappointing that the boys switched off with 15 to go but at least they showed us that there is a decent team in there somewhere. If any one of Mullen's no try, Boyd's drop over the line or Housten's bonehead play (which really shouldn't have been a penalty, there werre not dog shots or punches, a play the ball would of been the right call) go our way we probably win the game in my opinion.

The result was disappointing but i enjoyed watching us play for half a game which is a step forward.

Our centres really let us down. We also have to get House and Eddie away from the second row. Eddie (while he seemed to have more sting in his tackles) is a bad defender on the fringe and the are both horrible in attack. Our wingers, Jimmy in particular, weren't great in d either

Roberts looked lively today, i was happy with him, our starting props, Bedsy (Adams looked sharp too) Boyd and Mckinnon.
you are right, it's the first game in about 2 months where we've actually had a crack and looked good at any stage, but it did coincide with Brisbane falling asleep, too. it shits me even more than we could have won this game, but instead had 50 points put on us. it's just soft nonsense.
i think Roberts offers very little, though. does he even have a kicking game?

That's the norm here though isn't it - give 'em hell, suggest new players are thrown into the team as a magic cure, forget the general team performance and focus on individuals (they can win or lose a game of course).

Geez, who would ever want to play for a team that cops it like that.

what a f**king stupid thing to say. Wes was carving it up last year. he is playing like dogshit now. how dreadful it must be to play for a fanbase that calls it how they see it.

are people not supposed to change their opinions in light of new evidence? you wouldn't happen to be religious?

That was the first game in a long time that we have come out with some positives, so I'll start with those.

Firstly and most pleasing, our spine actually looked good this week. Buderus and Boyd both really stepped up for the first time this season, and Roberts was dogged(unfortunately I can't use the word classy). Mullen went alright.

We finally looked like we had a front-row rotation. Snowden and Mason both led the way, and Fa'aoso provided punch. Snowden's lateral defense is still a concern though but a big man like him can't be blamed.

The negatives:

Our three-quarters were all hopeless.

I will be glad to never see Naiqama in Knights colours again. Gutless in defence.

Sau tries hard but just can't defend, especially when marking a centre with a decent fend. Hodges made him look four foot nothing today.

Uate's defensive positioning has been abysmal lately. Start on your wing. Let your centre slide. Naiqama was shit in contact today but Uate had to let him take the centre for Copley's try. We had the numbers. Instead Uate looked like a goose.

McManus just didn't look himself today. I think it was Hodges' first try, McManus's commitment to making that tackle just wasn't there. No arms that close to the line was poor and not up to his usual standards.

The backrow still offers nothing in attack. I don't feel I need to expand on that. Compare Edwards, Houston and Costigan to Glenn, Thaiday, Parker, Gillett. We are massively behind the eight-ball in that department.

Oh and Houston...what the f**k were you thinking giving away that penalty. We started gaining momentum and playing as a unit for the first time since God know's when, get a big sniff and have the chance to turn our season around, and you go ahead and do that. There was shit-all in the tackle anyway. Then you miss a straight-up tackle on Petero a couple of plays later and the Broncos barge over. Unbelievable.

pretty true, JM. the spine was functioning. i don't know about Roberts. doesn't seem to have a full toolkit. i'd liek to see ANY kicking from him... let alone some variation in a kicking game.

was good to see Mullo thinking "repeat set, repeat set, repeat set" today, too. a small, but not insignificant step forward for him. amounts to f**k all in light of everything else, but i'd like to see him keep at it. it's one of the biggest gaps in his game.

If we got rid of sau, roberts, taia, boyd, houston, naiquama, hilder and probly costigan, we could get a few handy players for the coin theyre on. I dont care if they arent big names, I just want players who have a fair dinkum crack. There are some players that shouldnt play FG again for us this year or at all ever again. F#%k off you pea hearted sooks, you are not what newcastle is about.

Boyd would have been our best player on the field today were it not from an awesome captains knock from Bedsy. the rest certainly let us down today. Taia especially, i didn't even see him make a tackle...

Yeah besides the odd show-and-go Roberts adds nothing in attack. My praise of him was for his defence. My expectations are pretty low.

he was resolute in defense. has nothing with the ball, yeah. Walsh and Dureau both showed more with the ball than Tyrone has thus far. of course, they didn't show nearly as much in defence.

Broncos speed at the play the ball killed us today. Reading somewhere that Bennett ditched his wrestling coach at the beginning of the year and only recalled him this week. We looked unfit compared to the Broncs but i put that down to being murdered in the ruck.

As most people have stated, the usual suspects were again soft c#cks.

We are in real trouble when we have Costigan and Edwards starting in our forwards and Wes and Sau in the centres.

Roberts again shows nothing in attack and appears clueless in organising the attack.

On a positive, Boyd had by far his best game this year, Mason was tremendous and we have the raiders this week.

Playing the Raiders is only a positive if we win, which we wont if we turn up like we did the last 2 games.

If nothing else, Rick Stone has come out of this looking pretty good. He took a side that on paper probably should have finished 12th, and had them make the 8 playing an attractive style of football. We were never going to win the comp like that, but at least you would look forward to us playing every week - now I almost dread it.

Gagai would have to be a shoe in next week for a centre spot after this performance. Hopefully Timana is back.. Anyone know why he was a late withdrawal?

And who would you prefer?

Honestly, name your team.

I understand this is a little of topic so I wont take it any further than this.

You asked for it, here it is.

1.Jarryd Hayne
2.Aku Uate
3.Michael Jennings
4.Jamal Idris
5.James Mcmanus
6.Jarrod Mullen
7.Jamie Soward
8.Paul Gallen
9.Robbie Farah
10.Keith Galloway
11.Beau Scott
12.Luke Lewis
13.Greg Bird

14.Danny Buderus
15.Ben Creagh
16.Aaron Woods
17.Willie Mason

Criticise all you like but the fact is they wouldnt be any worse than the sides chosen over the last 6 years.

Oh f#!k the blues side is sh!t again too. Carney, grant, watmough, merrin, stewart bros, and worst of all the severely overated pearce will f#!k it up again. How many chance do these gronks need before the selectors realise they are s#!t c#nt$!

I believe they have finally got it right. I'm no wrap on Ben Creagh but will support him anyway. I believe they have finally chosen the best we have to offer save a couple of positions. If Pearce and Carney can put points on we win. No excuses behind the pack we have now.
