Jack has to come back when his renewed four game loan is up.

Can play in the middle or on an edge and is a better player currently than Billy Burns.

We are only an injury or two away from needing Jack in our top 17.

When his 4 weeks is done. Capewell will be fit who takes a bench spot in the top 17 at some stage this year

Capewell will be straight in when fit, starting 2nd row. Martin will snag a bench spot with his form.

I’m frankly flabbergasted that anyone would think Capewell will automatically come back into our starting side and displace those which has got us to where we are?

From my perspective he shouldn’t even make our top 17 never mind into our starting 13.

Currently we have 3 props on the bench, although I think Leniu could play a little wider. It stands to reason Capewell would come into the team for better balance. I don’t think he should come back into the starting team, though. Martin is killing it.

Leota I think is the guy who’ll have to make way.

Capewell is a decent player but you want your bench players to have an impact, Capewell isn’t really that type of player in my eyes. I think it’s likely Capewell starts because he’s solid and then Martin will come off the bench because he’s capable of breaking tackles and getting quick play the balls.

Also, Capewell is easily a better option than Hetherington going into the finals. If we have a prop injured then sure, play Hetherington, but a guy with 60 games under his belt playing second row is a better option than someone whose hardly played SR at all.

Would you seriously drop Leota for Capewell? What about runs on the board, the players getting the job done, as opposed to someone who has played what two games.

Do we really change what has worked very well for a player who arguably is not any better than those who have been getting the job done.

Capewell surely has to earn the right to get back into our top 17 if only thru injury.

Capewell played a heap from the bench for the sharks.

For most of the winning run we’ve had a specialist second rower on the bench. It’s only the last couple we haven’t.

Personally I’d prefer a specialist second rower on the bench.

If he wasn’t good enough to make the starting side for the Sharks then what has he done to warrant a starting spot in our pack.

When he does recover from his latest injury I don’t see him displacing any of our current best 17 and for mine he would be behind Jack as well when he returns.

I don’t think he should be in the starting team. The bench is appropriate, though. We’d want a specialist second rower on the bench. If Burns hadn’t been playing poorly maybe he would’ve kept the role, but what we’ve got now is mostly a stop gap measure.

Hetherington has been playing prop/lock for the warriors. Why would we put him into second row right before the finals? That doesn’t make sense to me.

I'm in the minority on Martin. I see a decent first grader, one who hits hard which is his biggest strength. He isn't an automatic selection in my best 17. Though I'd have him over Burns.

Capewell is a superior defender. Also versatile as he can play centre (Martin/Kikau aren't good options at centre and Yeo's days at centre are almost gone if not already). I like the look of a Cleary/Capewell combination.

Also worth noting that Capewell has started in all 3 games for the Panthers. His signing had everyone scratching their heads last year ('We need a centre/winger not a backrower'). I highly doubt he was brought in to Penrith to ride the pine. Cleary wanted to plug a hole.

On Hetherington:

Tamou
JFH
Yeo

Leota
Tetevano
Leinu

>>>Jack.

I could see an argument placing Jack above Leinu but not the others. He is someone who won't play for us in the finals unless injury strikes. As it stands both Leinu/Jack don't make our best 17. May has just about locked up bench utility and Martin/Capewell fill the backrow spot on the bench.

Geez, you’re a tough marker. Martin is easily in the best 17. You need a specialist second rower on the bench, it’s either him or Capewell. No one in our top 30 comes close.

Yeah I was thinking about it now and I guess he makes the bench. I just keep trying to fit in Leinu but that isn't going to happen with our middle forwards.

I still see Capewell>Martin.

I do understand we are talking about a player considered worthy of being 18th man for the Maroons for SOO so clearly he has qualities?

Having said that, if we are at full strength there isn’t a spot for him. Spencer can play middle or on the edge. Jack likewise. Yes I would pick Capewell in front of Billy but not in front of any of our current forwards who have got us to where we are.

He shouldn’t get picked on reputation and has basically contributed nothing for us thus far albeit injury has been the issue.

I support the players who have been doing the job for us and I don’t want to see them discarded for a player who has yet to do anything for us.

It’s limited game time, but I’d have Leniu above Leota on the bench. Leniu offers genuine X factor. He’s averaging over 10 meters per run. Leota is doing well at 9.6m a run, but I just feel Leniu can offer more impact.
