TCT on there match report for NSW cup said Jake was the 2nd best player last week and was the conductor of the attack. šŸ¤”

TCT are huge nut huggers and Ba fan boys. So no doubt theyā€™d rub one out if Jake has a decent game. And Iā€™ll take whatever Jake does in reserves with a grain of salt. Because Iā€™ve seen what heā€™s done is first grade.

I would say we have a fair bit more $$$s committed to our two first choice halves (now and planned for the near future) than most of those teams with a decent backup .... how much cash can you commit to those 2 positions? .... not saying im a fan of jake, but he would be on pitance and it probably enables us to throw more at moses and drown

No doubt heā€™s on chump change. But the question needs to be asked, should he be there at all? He was only upgraded because of a covid issue last year??? Heā€™s not a FG half.

Iā€™ve never even heard of that merkin. Let me guess, heā€™s got a good running game? No chance he wonā€™t make it in first grade ffs

He does look good. I dont think Jakes hopeless however. I think BA gives him a very limited role and he is being confused on what he should do. At the same time he needs 1 or 2 yrs to develop properly.

I do feel fans should give Jake a break. Jokes aside he is an Eel amd a junior. We should be backing the kid. If he plays I hope he goes well. If Moses does want over 1 mill a season Jake might be a pleasant suprise in a fraction of the money. Might free up 800k if he did turn into a real NRL player. He would also be a great combination for Dylan.

Moses is a brilliant player but reality is he was just born to lose. That won't ever change. He just doesn't have that merkin about him or that winners feel. I look at Munster and he is just a merkin that will win. I look at Cleary or even that young Roosters halfback and they just look like winners. Born winner. Moses is probably better then both but his problem is mentality and as I said, he was born to lose....

I'm on the record as stating that I see potential in Jake - but I do understand people's frustrations with him being in the side.

He isn't ready for a regular First Grade gig yet - which he isn't doing, anyway -, but I think he has a good footy brain, and skill.

He just needs time to develop.

He's 188cm though, and not explosive. How many halves that height make it? And I don't see him transitioning to the forwards as he isn't much of an athlete.

I see him moving into the middle next year, to do this he needs to work on his acceleration. He's got an array of passes, and him playing that middle half role that is in vogue at the moment will suit his game more as he gets older.

We've also seen the development of Lui and Sanders in Flegg. For an 18 year old in the 21's Sanders has played very well in the few games I've seen of him. When he was playing against players his own age (NSW city vs NSW country u/19's) he was one of the best on field

My opinion, now keep in mind my track record is better then anyone on this forum.

What we have is a dedicated, robotic half. He does however have good vision, but poor execution. His lag time is far to slow for NRL and he lacks agility.
His defense is solid and will improve due to size. His kick games average but possible to improve . Well not possible naturally it will improve. Will he be an NRL regular? Hard to tell. He certainly won't be electric but he could be a solid controlling half who has great defense and stick to a game plan. I dont think we will know untill 2024/ 2025 where he will end up. Highly doubt he'd ever reach origin status. Possible he becomes a Chad Townsend level however which is still very good.
