They should give him another week. He won't be the difference between winning and losing anyway. No need to risk him. Though Copley out of the centres would only be a good thing.

Heart attack stuff but two points around Origin time is like gold. The performance of Jack Reed sums the game up tonight, promising with the ball in hand but absolutely lost without it.

3. Josh Hoffman
1. Peter Wallace
1. Jack Reed
1. Dave Hala

Super Shea wasn't too bad on debut. Shame he was pinged for that knock on that got the Raiders back into the game.

Gagai was fine today, took some really tough bombs and made a few good halfbreaks.

He's still struggling positionally at times but with the right diet and work out he'll become a good player.

Gagai will come good.
Has the sex factor about him.
Every game he shows a little something.
In the last set of the match, he was the one that made half a break shame he got pushed back.

Gagai seems really good with the ball in hand, until a few defenders get a hold of him and they drag him back 5m. To me it just looks like he might need to bulk up a bit like Hoffman did over the off season. Hoffman came back in round 1 looking huge and muscle as and he hasn't really lost any pace. Gagai is always looking to make a break and he has the footwork and speed for it.

LOL Gagai isn't really getting better IMO.

It was only his fifth game. What kind of improvement are you expecting? He's safe under the high ball, does his share of hit ups and has good positional play. His numbers and effort today would stack up against most wingers in their fifth ever game.

Brave of Griffin to keep Reed out there for the duration. Thought he was gone with fifteen to go but he pulled through. Good job by Norman, too. Strong kicking game but he doesn't get it right quite often enough.

Gagai has put on a stack of weight, but you still needs to work out.
Extra weight doesn't mean you become stronger.
Needs to hit the squats and deadlifts.

To put it in perspective

Shea Moylan - 5 June, 1987
Josh Hoffman - 10 May 1988
Yow Yeh - 22 December 1989
Gerald Beale - July 1990
Jack Red - 15 July 1988
Dane Gagai - 3 January 1991
Dale Copley - 29 July 1991

Only Copley is younger but he also had a done two full preseasons with the top squad.

Hala has been in the squad for awhile, always had the potential but was a lazy Karmichael. He showed a bit today. If he continues to work on his fitness he'll be a weapon.

Carlaw was good today with some good carries of the ball prior to injury.
Hoffman is one of the best defensive fullbacks, he attacks the ball carrier cutting down time and space. Came up with a couple of good decisions again today. Lexy Glenn was strong in both defense and attack, just had the feeling the (c) burdened his performance. Wallace was cool and in control, took the ball to the line and made it look easy with his passing game. Mixed kicking game and one defensive lapse.

I do not understand why they did not take the the 2 points on offer with the penalty kick decision just over 30 sec remaining to half time.

3.. Wallace
2.. Hoffman
1.. Glenn

Good game and a win I didn't count on to start with, but throughly deserved as we were the much better team overal.

No, I didn't forget those 15 minutes from hell, it was piss poor and despite the refs leg up, cannot happen. Youth and inexperience had a lot to do with it. Wtf was Norman thinking with that grubber kick? Cocky attitude that came back to bite him big time...

Macca's best and worse was on display today, and yet another lost ball, this time to Alan Tongue of all people...

Wallace, Hoffman were all class, Glenn really led by example and no one bar Kenny had a bad game. Jeez he's turned into a pillow!

3- Wallace
2- Hoffman
1- Glenn

Honorable mentions to Norman, Reed, Hala and Copley

Truly a tale of two halves. Goes to show what can happen when you switch off.

Regardless, we got the vital two points at Origin time.
