With our shit F/A it's more like 2.

We still need to win 5 from our last 9 to make sure of finals footy, 28 points won't make us safe IMO.

A good point. Our F/A is terrible but I wonder how many teams have missed the finals with 28 points?

I reckon we beat Tigers, Knights and Rabbits and win at least one game against the Dogs and at least one game against the Qld teams (2 x Broncos and 1 x Titans).

But French is our leading playmaker for creating linebreaks. He's no f**king good on the wing. Gutherson is a gun but he's no playmaker.
Who gives a f**k who is creating the linebreaks. As long as we're scoring enough points to be winning games, that's all that matters.

We now have Moses who is creative so a creative fullback isn't as essential.

Pathers have betean 4 bottom 8 teams, hardly purring. But with their sweetheart draw I excpect them to make the 8. That's the worry with our F/A maybe 30 won't be enough with the bottom 4 teams not being very competitive. But hey the salary cap is working a treat.........

30 points will definitely be enough for the top eight!! Guaranteed!! History supports this.

It's the end of round 15 and raiders, Penrith, warriors and the dogs (teams sitting near us) have still not won 50% of their games (which gives you 28 points). There is still a good chance this won't change. Additionally if they start winning more than 50% of their games sides above us are losing!!

The only reason Penrith are in the 8 is because they have already had their two byes.

I thought Moses played better than Norman yesterday....

We probably have an easier draw than most and have more wins than thise 2 teams (meaning they need to win when we have a bye).
We get all the bottom 5 teams on the way home and with the halves/fb combination in its infancy we might reasonably expect better attacking performances going forward.
Not inconceivable that we could make up the points differential, but we will need to toughen up defensively!!
Every game is winnable from here on on IMO. The Bronc's arent traveling that great either. It will be disappointing if we can't at least win 5 more.

No it's all about LBAs and French is second in our team (after Ma'u) despite missing five games and playing one on the wing.

How many LBAs does he have that lead to tries? (the answer is 0 - and 0 try assists altogether).

Or, to put it another way, if Gutherson breaks the line HIMSELF draws the fullback, and a try is created, how is French putting a bloke into a gap a better result?
Gutherson is perfectly capable of ball playing as a fullback. Just hasn't had the chance 2 wide much this season. He is 2nd in the NRL when it comes to breaking the line himself, and is more than capable of setting up tries.

He's a superior player to French in almost every aspect of the game right now, and should be the fullback for the rest of the season. French played his best game of the year as a winger, and that's his spot going forward - let him use his opportunistic skills there to create tries from nothing. At fullback he was stifling our attack with his '5 dummies in a row before dummying to himself' play. It worked once against the Dragons the first time, and hasn't since.

The Bronc's might not be travelling that well at the moment but let's hope they can lift this Saturday and stick it to Sticky's men down in Canberra.... with no Parra game this week, that would be like watching Parra win if the Raiders get towelled up this week...

Interesting stat, apart from us twice, only two other sides have scored more than 20 points against the dragons this year - storm and cowboys.

actually apart from our excellent kicking game i was very impressed by our desperation in defence especially on a few occasions when they made a break down the sideline it was shut down nicely

Yes - defence has been very good for the most part.

I don't know what is going on with our attack. Really, it has been bloody ordinary all season bar one game. When Noddy made his comment yesterday about us putting 40 on them, I am sure all eels supporters laughed. We don't currently have that amount of points in us. Very disjointed and clunky it seems.

Does he not get a TA for the last pass he threw to Hoffman to score V the Warriors too???

You'd think he would get try assist AND a linebreak assist on that one?

But I just found the problem with the stats I was looking at (on the official NRL website). They are from 2016.
That's hopeless. How can they not have them up to date?!?
