Bleh. It's not even worth breaking down. If Cronulla or Melbourne decide to turn up they're about three times better than anything we can manage, even if we stumble into the 8 playing footy like this we'll probably just get blown out.

Our attack is so bad and our edges have a habit of backing off and conceding tries. The defence is getting better but we aren't a contender by a long way. We need someone to teach them some attacking/defending structure.

If we have to play either of those sides it'll mean we've made the finals and won in the first week. Better to think about whether we can beat the Warriors in Auckland next game. I think we'll be up against it.

Pretty grim game. I'd rather win it but we were woeful inside their 20. No fluency or speed to anything we were doing. Manly looked dangerous but were atrociously disciplined (seriously, there was only one or two 50/50 calls in that first half. They deserved to get slammed in the count). Very few standouts honestly. I guess Tamou or DWZ.

Just on the refs, I though we saw a good example of how to manage the ref from DCE. His team gave away successive blatant penalties and he's in the refs ear the whole time. He pulls the ref aside (respectfully) after his player took out a kicker with his shoulder very late. As blatant a penalty as you'll ever see. Yes it's annoying but he earned his side a much needed rest and lo and behold, the next late shoulder charge on a kicker doesn't get pulled up. I never see us do that.

Fellas a point of view from an outsider who took a great interest in the game.
Your attack looked a helluva lot better when your second hooker was on, Katoa is it?
I love the younger Peach but his defensive reads are not so good, Manly didn't exploit it enough.
Merrin was great.
Cleary needs to take some of the focus off Moylan, he did more in the second half and you looked like a better team.
A bit more consistency and you could give the rest of the year a shake.
Good luck

Good sides don't flogged by A Souths team playing like it's 1984. A bridge too far this year panthers. Shame, youse are a great club.

Didn't execute anywhere near how we should but we were tough tonight. Could of rolled over in the first 20 of the second half but kept our composure. Gutsy win.

We really struggle to isolate defenders in attack. DCE was superb the way he continued to get Lane 1v1 against Moylan & Peach. Blake & Peach were invisible most of the night, we just never hit them for some reason.

Thought Tamou RCG & Latu were great. Katoa was very solid also.

A win is a win. Too much hysteria about the DWZ try. Manly's second try was off a blatant forward pass, so it evens out. It was a very tough call to rule out the try in the second half. It looked like it went backwards.
Still hard to see on a scratchy internet connection here in Guangzhou in China!

With eels winning later a loss to a red hot Manly may of been curtains.
Every year after origin with about 8 games to play one team makes a run.
I reckon panthers will win 6 but capable of all 8.

We're not likely to push a rather slick Eels outfit out of the 8. Our best hope is to leapfrog the Dragons. They've returned to being rubbish in attack and if that continues they're going to struggle to get the 3 or 4 more wins they need. Then again I know that we're pretty poor in that department too against a decent defence, (we all know that we only score big against poor defences and generally poor teams).. obviously we need to be a lot smarter and creative and leave it all for Moylan to do.

The stat I'm most happy with tonight, apart from getting a win over Manly is we were the better disciplined team for a change. That's been one of the issues really killing us.

Are you kidding? We are the most hard done by club ever, the refs want us gone, it's a conspiracy... they make all calls against us... we were perfect as we always are, it's just tonight they want to throw us off the scent by being nice to us
