Slomax still to prove he's up to it.
Looks a poor re-signing so far. Best case he finds something (anything) and offsets the compensation we'll owe any potential suitors who can take him off our hands.

Fullback: Drops every kick, doesn't tidy up loose ball, does nothing in attack and looks as comfortable as chain mail undies all game - after doing literally nothing noteworthy all career to date
Coach: Moves him to a lesser role
LU: But he's the golden child because Freddy said so at a kids carnival one time and I know because I remember and he needs to stay fullback or we will have to forfeit the season and move to Perth

I’ve got it Kikau won’t play therefore Dufty won’t be shown up in defence, brilliant move why didn’t I think of it.

Hey Gitano you are a game man.

I don’t like Zac at fullback. I think he can be a tough centre something like a Manu at Roosters. Given Zac is on the books at $500 to $600k a year for 5 years I want him to succeed and hope he does.

Matt Dufty will also make mistakes but if our forward pack can make ground he is very dangerous. In 2018 we had Leeson, Tariq, a younger James Graham and JDB all going forward. I will say it again that we would have gone close to winning the comp in 2018 if Gareth and Tariq stayed healthy in the semi finals push to the grand final.

The issue for me isn’t about whether Lomax should have been picked at fullback originally. It’s that once he was picked there he should have been backed.

It’s symptomatic of the issues that the club has in bringing through young players.

Even your mate Euan has suffered from the club’s lack of ability to cultivate talent. Where he is at as a player is nowhere near where he should be.

If they trained for Zac to play fullback in the offseason, and now they think that switching to Dufty is the right move, they mustn’t have faith in the structures that they’ve put in place (or they have none) because no decent coach would use the same structures for Zac and Dufty.

I didn't believe I was able to get get even more depressed by the basket case of a club that I follow/love, but the announcement of Dufty in the full back position this week has taken the depression to a new lower level.

FFS cant anyone at STGI see that Zac has great potential and must be left there to grow and mature into the position.

Dufty is an embarrassment.

Agree with a lot that Lomax is a centre, but if you spend all off-season talking him up as a fullback he needs to get more than one chance to prove it. I mean, Aitken's had over 100 chances to proves he's a centre.

Come to think of it, McGregor's had 140 chances to prove he's a coach and a 47% winning record would suggest to all but the board he's proved exactly the opposite.

Excellent summation.

Mmmm

Train of thought here, and as someone already mentioned, there could be a late reshuffle. Dufty is 'returning' from a jaw injury si straight in to defend against the likes of Kikau, lmao.
In fact it's just not Kikau, Naden will be licking his lips, tall man up against short man, mmm yeah.
McGregor is super desperate, you could see that in his body language at the presser after the Tigers game, a game I'm sure he pencilled in as a saving grace for him.
As they say desperate times, desperate measures.
Can you hear the drums McGregor!

Penrith by plenty

Mc Fookknuckle has method in his madness as he will get Lomax to come off the wing (Isaako style for Broncos) and kick a FG to lead 1-0 on tackle 5 of our 1st set in their half.
Will then dump on Flanno for his defence patterns not defending the winning score.
I can here it now
We came up with innovative ideas to confuse and get ahead of the opposition and take a commanding lead and in both games we were only 78 minutes away from a victory but we couldn't defend it.
No good of having attacking plans to be let down by poor defence so maybe you should ask Flanno what he's doing about that after all we have hit the ground running and led from the start 2 weeks in a row nothing wrong with the attack.

Mary looked very relieved when the journos stopped talking about the game and focused on the virus and likely outcomes of that and Bennetts comments etc for most of the interview - he looked very sheepish up to that point. Still managed to blame the loss on everything but his incompetence.

There's every chance we could get flogged this week if the boys heads are inthe same space but I'd like to think if we could reduce the errors ( 11 ) the missed tackles ( 38 ) and the stupid penalties ( 9 ? ) and bombed tries ( 6 or 7 ) we might actually be competitive..........hahahaha, who am I kidding...we're f*cked.

Old timer.
Me thinks you could well be "our first grade coach" masquerading on this forum ... This way out strategy that you just let slip is a work of art. I can just imagine you behind the wheel of the bus muttering " how you like that Flanno !!! " as you engage first gear ......

How any other coach hasnt gone down this track is simply amazing another batch of sacificial lambs lined up and another extension to yourself as you said you have the attack down pat but the other coaches assisstants and there are a lot - let you down season after season .....mary you are one of a kind

seriously old timer you have an evil imagination - keep it up

But Lomax was a talented kid playing against kids and we must persist with him at fullback even though literally none of his competitive advantage translates to NRL
