Jed Cartwright must be way down the pecking order. Missing 2x second rowers and he's not even in the extended squad.

He would be stoked at the Winterstein signing.

I see Jed is playing in Center in Canterbury Cup could be training as back up to Whare and Waqa. I like this idea,

He is GONE next season. As you pointed out...the writing was on the wall with those 2 signings. I think he has real potential but obviously coaching staff have a different view.

He’s played FA footy in the last 12 months. What makes anyone think that he’s ready to play in the NRL?

He needs a good solid half a season in reggies.

I like this weeks team only kikau missing would have kept Egan in the atarting side and put katoa on the bench egan was solid without being brilliant threw 1 bad pass but made up for it with a try

Jed Cartwright can play second row no problems! I think his being selected at centre in reserve grade is simply to ensure he is ready for the call up should anything happen to Whare / Blake. Makes sense. By all accounts he is pretty quick for his size although probably not over the shorter distances.

Penrith playmaker James Maloney has sensationally claimed rival half Mitchell Moses took a dive to earn a penalty during Sunday’s Round 1 clash at Panthers Stadium.

“I’ve got no doubt there was no issue (with Moses) and he laid down, I’ve got no doubt whatsoever about that,” Maloney told Fairfax Media.

Did he need to say that? Everyone already knew he did.

Would be a good idea for the boys to just focus on playing rugby league this week...might help us out.

Cardinal sin to give away a penalty when in possession of the ball under those circumstances! Sure Moses milked it but credit to him all part and parcel of the game. I wish we had of ‘milked’ a few penalties on the weekend we could have done with a few!!!!

Nah good on Jimmy for saying something. Moses is a cat. We need less of that crap in the game.

RCG was still going on about hook in pre game pressers... Really need to just focus on footy

It was quality anti-griffin sentiment which filled me with joy. But again results come first, and he stank on Sunday.

Like I said when Gus and co were having a go last year right on Semis time. Time and a place...

The focus should be on the next 30 weeks or so. Especially if someone is in poor form like he is

Sounds like Mansour is out

And herein lies our problem!!!!

Our outside backs are not capable of being amongst the better sides in the Comp and the current back up choices are even less so.

We seriously lack strike power in the outside backs and it needs to be addressed.

These outside backs are the reason we have moved on countless players.

The strike power is there. The form isnt.

Mansour is the only real concern... he hasnt been the same since his ACL. Throw in his fractured face and he's a shadow of the player he once was.

As for the others:

DWZ had a shorter off-season and missed all trials. But he was oneof the better backs in the competition last year. Very close to winning a golden boot after captaining his country.

Blake was a beast last year also. Looks set for another big year. But hes going to struggle in the wet sadly.

Edwards is keeping the incumbent NZ fullback out of the #1 jersey... although he was terrible last week. Its his first NRL game in like 10 or 11 months.

Whare hasnt recovered fully from his ACL. Was poor last week. But in the pre-season trials and All Stars game he looked a bit more like his former self.

Mansour is my only concern in our top strength backline. Because his best form is so far behind him its getting harder to be confident he can ever recover. Some players never do after an ACL. You also have the fractured face... a broken jaw turned RCG into a pussy. Mansours face was far worse.

Disagree. Completely.
