Round 2 vs Newcastle

And herein lies our problem!!!!

Our outside backs are not capable of being amongst the better sides in the Comp and the current back up choices are even less so.

We seriously lack strike power in the outside backs and it needs to be addressed.

Brian Too could be our saviour in waiting.

I wish we kept Sivo.

Disagree. Completely.

Well that’s all fine and dandy but at the end of the day a Panther discard in Sivo and a great pick up in Blake Ferguson made all the difference on the weekend.

Our forwards matched there pack but at the end of the day we were found wanting in the outside backs. Too many mistakes, unforced errors and it cost us big time!!!

How can you argue what happpened!!!

They've got some flair against sides that aren't organised in defence, which is why the Roosters and Storm don't have trouble with them.

Yeah Gus is just commentating. They were fine but the Cows put nothing up against them.

Because he's not our coach?

It's well known he loves attacking footy and that's how he wanted us to play... and when he got hands on with us at training we did play that way a bit.

That was one of the big things he clashed over with Hook. Hook didnt like to take risks. Hard to say what brand of footy we intend to play this year. We couldnt complete a set and most errors hapoened on our line.

Seems weird for a general manager who loves attacking footy to sign off on 11 straight years of coaches with little interest in the attacking side of the game.

Edit: 12

Moylan, Bryce, Latu, Peachey all gone. Replaced by less attacking players... It was always going to happen. So Gus had a huge say in the style of footy we play.

Players have said Ivan lets them play what's in front of them. Problem is Our halfback needs flashing lights to see it

These outside backs are the reason we have moved on countless players.

The strike power is there. The form isnt.

Mansour is the only real concern... he hasnt been the same since his ACL. Throw in his fractured face and he's a shadow of the player he once was.

As for the others:

DWZ had a shorter off-season and missed all trials. But he was oneof the better backs in the competition last year. Very close to winning a golden boot after captaining his country.

Blake was a beast last year also. Looks set for another big year. But hes going to struggle in the wet sadly.

Edwards is keeping the incumbent NZ fullback out of the #1 jersey... although he was terrible last week. Its his first NRL game in like 10 or 11 months.

Whare hasnt recovered fully from his ACL. Was poor last week. But in the pre-season trials and All Stars game he looked a bit more like his former self.

Mansour is my only concern in our top strength backline. Because his best form is so far behind him its getting harder to be confident he can ever recover. Some players never do after an ACL. You also have the fractured face... a broken jaw turned RCG into a pussy. Mansours face was far worse.

Mansour is slow and can't jump. Now is injury prone.

Whare slow limited in attack always puts in but is 7/10 in every game.

We could do much better outwide

What got him to the top of the rep tree was not speed or ability to jump. It was his ability to make big metres post-contact early in sets. If he can't do this anymore, then his days are numbered as a first grader.

A few are in that same boat. It is a key season for a few he is one

D day today. Turn up and win or we will go 0- 3 next week.
Don't mean to be negative but our side is getting a little 2018 version of smelly Eels.
