Our structure has proven it can handle a lesser half.
I have yet to see us go well without getting the starts to our sets well. Not to mention the mistakes that would come.

It is why I think next year is our year. Gotta build the depth up as there is about 6 guys we can't cover

We can handle a lesser half but not a lesser centre? that is silly,

We haven't played a good side with SOS. He'll be fine to get us through Origin but if he's playing finals we'll get spanked by the likes of Melbourne

I am saying we are no chance either way. but we have gone ok with lesser halves across the last 2 seasons

We have scored the most points in the comp.
5th in kick metres in the comp.
Have the leading pointscorer in the comp.

On the back of being 6/3 last year with May at halfback even.

There is enough of a sample size there.

Edwards numbers against that

69 runs.
next is 58

run metres
725
Next is 542

Kick return metres
Edwards 345
Johnston 274

Last year as an average he was top in those same categories

As a team

We are 2nd in post contact metres
2nd in run metres
1st in kick return metres
The most try assists as side

Where we fall behind is not grubber kicking as much but atleast we are getting into that field position. Take an outside back away and we don't start the sets well and kick from further back. So it cancels itself out

As we would without the good starts to our sets we would get.

We don't win the comp without any of these guys:

Edwards
Crichton
Luai
Cleary
Api
Yeo
Kiks

It is just where we sit depth wise atm. Hopefully through Origin we see others go well and changes that

So? we are a good side with out Nathan no doubt but we have played a bad manly side, a bad st george side and a 12 man newcastle, we looked good last year without Dylan. I know what the obvious options are to replace Nathan and Dylan and come the business end of the year we are a much better chance with nathan in the side.

We aren't winning the comp if either is out.

If Nathan, Yeo and Api are fit in September anything is possible

That isnt really the discussion that was happening but tbh I disagree to an extent. Its certainly hurts our chances but I think we could win without Dylan if Critter gets an extended run at the back. If we lost Dyl in grand final week probably not but let Stephen get some experience palying there multiple weeks and he will be an absolute star, he improved his fullback play dramatically over the course of last season with very limited opportunities.

We will see. So far teams are playing expansive footy centres suddenly have a purpose.
Starting sets well to keep momentum is as important as a good kicking game.
Standard of footy is much better. As a result teams need quality across the park

Crichton's replacement is more the concern though.
Api is playing within the team game plan. He could do alot more if needed in a big game SOS just has to make tackles and kick. I'd have to see Jennings or someone in centres doing the same before I could say the same

Jennings would just need to the basics well also l. I mean if Api can do more why isnt he? Your saying the coach doesnt want him to? that makes no sense. This is going around in circles tbh im getting over it, no matter how you split it Nathan is a lot harder to replace than Dylan. Dylan is a good fullback nathan is a ball dominant halfback, best half and probably player in the game he cant be replaced.

The semi loss last year showed how pivotal Edwards is to our success. Those early metres are what sets us apart from other teams. We don't win the comp without him.

I disagree with Sean being closer than Critter or staines. You are being ambiguous tbh . Sean is a lot further away from Cleary than Critter is from Dylan and either way replacing what Nathan does for us is a lot harder then what Dylan does for us, im sorry i think Dyl is great but you are overrating him quite a bit now. He is not getting picked at fullback in a rep side ahead of Teddy, Turbo, Pap, Ponga, Latrell and even probably Gutho by anyone but die hard panthers fans.
I don’t agree with any of that, for the reasons that have already been discussed.

He is very slow. I don't remember him being so slow. Has had issues with his hands before

So the dog from Newcastle is claiming his elbow to Smiths jaw was careless...and he has Kents support apparently.

I have taken a few snap shots.

This one shows Smith running. Note the legs running action.

This one shows Smith coming to a stop before obstructing the dog. Again, note the legs stopping.

Smith has stopped at moment of impact.

If this dog doesn't get 8+ weeks there is something wrong!

It's one of the worst I've seen in the last 20 years.

Our defence and Nathans kicking game was the difference through the finals last year, we defended like no team I have ever seen and Nathans kicking game kept Parra, Storm and then the bunnies pinned in their half for most of those games. I am not saying we would definitely win without Edwards I am saying we are a much better chance without Dylan than we are without Nathan. Its pure dylan worshipping fantasy to suggest Dylan is harder to replace than Nathan.
