I would disagree with that I think at full strength they are a bit closer than we are
in saying that having Kurt man at 5/8th will not get them to where they need to
That’s why they probably rushed Green in for this week
Kurt has proven yet again his best position is just a solid fill-in for the backs
he will never own a 1st grade spot in the backline
They have proven now they have even a better super sub... that being Connor Watson
Newcastle have a formidable forward pack no doubt and not just " on paper " they're in form but they're not invincible as witnessed last week. They might be missing J.Saifiti for this one too. Luckily for us they aren't at full strength in the backs without Ponga and Best ( Best was involved in nearly all their tries out wide in rounds 1 & 2 ).
They play a compressed defence and are vulnerable out wide as shown 3 weeks in a row with even the Doggies scoring twice pretty easily in the corners.
If you look at their opening 3 rounds they beat the Dogs 32-16 letting them in for 3 tries ( the Dogs have been held to 0 since ) , they were lucky to get the 20-16 win against the Warriors who lost courtesy of a dubious bunker call and they were rolled by the Tiges, so they aren't traveling as well as a lot of people make out - all the " Expert " tipping has them winning - except Sowie but I reckon we can match them even without Hunt.
Our boys should get in the refs ear about Pearce's penchant for milking penalties before a ball's even kicked, that'd help.
