I would disagree with that I think at full strength they are a bit closer than we are
in saying that having Kurt man at 5/8th will not get them to where they need to
That’s why they probably rushed Green in for this week
Kurt has proven yet again his best position is just a solid fill-in for the backs
he will never own a 1st grade spot in the backline
They have proven now they have even a better super sub... that being Connor Watson

Pearce at half and Green/Mann at 5/8 is not a premiership combo. They might be able to sneak into the 8, but if all goes well, so could we.

Agree but we’re not talking about winning a premiership it’s just who is closer
With green and pearce as their 6 and 7 and their full squad for mine they are closer but anything is possible

Newcastle have a formidable forward pack no doubt and not just " on paper " they're in form but they're not invincible as witnessed last week. They might be missing J.Saifiti for this one too. Luckily for us they aren't at full strength in the backs without Ponga and Best ( Best was involved in nearly all their tries out wide in rounds 1 & 2 ).
They play a compressed defence and are vulnerable out wide as shown 3 weeks in a row with even the Doggies scoring twice pretty easily in the corners.
If you look at their opening 3 rounds they beat the Dogs 32-16 letting them in for 3 tries ( the Dogs have been held to 0 since ) , they were lucky to get the 20-16 win against the Warriors who lost courtesy of a dubious bunker call and they were rolled by the Tiges, so they aren't traveling as well as a lot of people make out - all the " Expert " tipping has them winning - except Sowie but I reckon we can match them even without Hunt.
Our boys should get in the refs ear about Pearce's penchant for milking penalties before a ball's even kicked, that'd help.

Maybe.

Let's re-visit after the game on Sunday and see if either of us changes our mind?

Heard Kurt Mann on the radio saying Friz was really looking forward to playing us. Clune & Norman can look forward to him running at them.

Agree blacksafake.

Add our center and second row on his side or anyone in front of him.

I done blame Frizz for leaving however, I don't think it will be all one way traffic. He will be in for some treatment from the boys.

P.S. Add Pearce to the list.

Even after all these years of spending & rebuilding Newcastle are nothing more than a mid top 8 team & a long way off a premiership threat. Given our emerging youth & the general rejuvenation under Hook I think we are better placed for success than Newcastle is.

Regardless of how well Norman plays this year he & his salary need to be moved on, his money can buy a origin standard 2nd rower if JdB comes back great if not his money can be spent on a Lock unless we stick with Fuimaono.

I think we’ll win on Sunday

Out of us & Newcastle I think we’re in better shape for future success. Watching Penrith play there’s still a huge jump to be a premiership threat. This week & next week against Parra will tell a lot about how we are travelling.

Yep.
I wasn't sold on him initially, and I know it's early, but he seems very measured and I enjoy listening to the bloke.

Agreed.

I made it clear that Shaun Wane was my preferred option for head coach but Griffin has done a great job so far.

It really is night and day in all aspects compared to what we had...

I will gauge when hunt is back and we are at full strength.
Any win we get without him is a bonus.
Parra has been very lucky with injuries.
Its about time they had some

This is just one of those games I really want to win. Up against a team more highly rated than us and deservingly so. They will be tough but really hope we up the intensity and take our opportunities.
