Tbh thought momentum changed when we took Katoa off. Lost our shape & structure.
To Ivan’s credit he tried to right his wrong by bringing Katoa back quickly but it was too late.
One thing I liked about Hook is that he didn’t sub for the sake of subbing which I think happened last night at Hooker. The players were fit enough to handle it too.
If maloney misses a tackle.from dummy half that doesn't guarantee a try we have a fullback and wingers who can cover. But when he misses one from 5/8 its try time the guy is slowing up and holding luai back besides ivan will not de value his own son by moving him to halfback. It worked with wallace it will work with jimmy.
Our brand of football is near unwatchable. I thought last year was bad to watch...this is much worse.
Jimmy missed 13 tackles on his own. To go with his 3 errors and a penalty.
I thought JFH was by far our best last night. Ran hard. Hit hard. Nice passes developing in his game. Scored a good try. Although he sadly missed 8 tackles aswell.
RCG, Sele and Luai our only guys to make 90%+ of their tackles. Luai played like 2 minutes and RCG kept fresh by doing nothing whennwe had the ball.
You're right.
We can offset losing rep players like Peachey, Merrin, CHN, etc..by simply having a few extra games thrown onto the tally of fringe first graders.
I think Hetherington is in our top 17, definitely needs to kick on though.
We have gone ‘all in’ on 5 or 6 players & atm only Kikau is consistently delivering. Cleary is improving, Blake, RCG, Maloney are offering very little.
I’m worried about Blake tbh, he’s looking very one dimensional. Right foot step.
Sharks are arguably in worse form then us. Been belted by Eels snd Roostersthepast 2 weeks. They're a bogey side for us though.
Really any team with a few ex players seems to be fired up to beat us. Just lucky Moyza is out... he destroyed us in the finals.
In a better performing side Blake would be talked about as a potential origin player.
I’m saying our poor form is all about the engine room and frankly our highest paid player in that department is a no show.

I think the idea is to try adding strike to both sides of the field.Put him outside Kikau and he gets the space he should get

But Blake and Kikau together are a combination that give right edges nightmares.
We need to try:
LW - MWZ
LC - Blake
LSR - Kikau
I would look at trying Jed Cartwright at right centre. I was hyped for Whare returning to form this year. But he's clearly never going to be the same player again. Age + serious injuries years ago mean it's likely all downhill from here for him.
Im not convinced Jed would be any better. Just another example of how bad our depth is. But maybe his size and offload would give us something Whare cannot. Jed is worth a shot atleast.
