Round 8 vs Roosters

Really? Sounds like a good deal for the Roosters. I call BS on that theory. The ANZAC clash between roosters and dragons will continue and since it is at the Roosters home ground it should be a roosters home game. To play them every second year twice at their home ground is ridiculous.
I think your stance on this is selfish. We are a part of these celebrations, and I'm proud of our club for our contribution. Playing Anzac Day at the roosters home ground each year is a very small sacrifice in my opinion.

I just like things to be fair and equal. If the Roosters own the Anzac clash and we have been invited to play them on this special occasion then I understand your stance. But if this game is owned, for lack of a better word, by both clubs then I see no reason why the Roosters should benefit from it every second year.

I guess it's one of those cases where the limitations of the word "fair" means that we aren't likely to agree.

Then why don't the NRL just make the ANZAC game every year a Roosters home game? We play it at their home ground every year don't we?
The reason we play our home game at against Easts on ANZAC day is because it is financially profitable for us to do it. The other reason is because it is located close to town and the people attending ANZAC Day ceremony can attend the game afterwards.

Back in the 80's we used to play some ANZAC day games at Kogarah. I remember one game against Balmain, I think it was 84, where at the end of the minutes silence Skull yelled out from his tree, just outside of the ground "Let the war begin". I was sitting on the other side of the field, close to the sideline and the person next to me, told me what he had said.

So we take our home game to their home ground Allianz. Then in round 20 we play them again and guess where we play them? Allianz again. We really are stupid.
Why didnt the NRL make the ANZAC game their home game knowing it was never going to be a home game for us .....

I may be wrong but I believe we have a contract for the Anzac clashes to be played at Alliance, and from 2019 at the SCG as reported this week.

Whilst not a real home ground, I have attended most clashes, and we are always in good attendance there.

I can live with this deal on such a special day ..

Roosters vs Rabbits would be more like a heated battle. It would be far more tribal.

Souths dislike Easts far more than we do.

If East's chose a team it would be the Rabbits.

Home ground advantage is usually reliant on the home crowd, not the specific venue. I'd be very surprised if the ANZAC clashes werent traditionally dominated by dragons fans over Roosters fans, and Allianz is a great venue for watching footy. Strange thing to whinge about.

I guess one thing that may help us with the short turn around ( and unfortunately there is only one imo) and thats with 62% of the ball against The Warriors we at least did less tackling than we may have had to do......id prefer to go into Anzac Day knowing we didnt have the ball for only 38% of the time......having said that this game is going to be very tough to win....all our blokes are going to have to commit for the full 80 minutes .....whether some of them are capable we will have to wait and see I guess.....you can guarantee one thing young Dufty will be peppered with high balls from Cronk and Keary hopefully he doesn't get overawed with the occassion and has a blinder

I believe its more than the crowd. It's where you train. It's where you are based. Its the ground you know every inch of.
I played sports as a kid and always felt we had an advantage at our home ground.
Anyway, it is trivial I guess but I just wanted to discuss it. Seems its not an issue for most people here, fair enough.
Next topic.

Nah its relevant. And you raise some good points in particular re training ground etc. There is no doubt that from that perspective the Chooks have an intrinsic advantage. It hasn't though been a thorn for us, as I think our record for these games has been very good.

Its just that we are contracted to this deal as it stands, and of all venues, I would prefer this than say ANZ.

40k plus at Alliance is amazing, whereas 40k plus at ANZ is soulless.

S.C.G for me would be fairer , but as already mentioned above it all changes from 2019 , we will survive until then , firstly by beating the Rorters on Anzac Day . Both teams always rise to the occasion and it will once again go down to the final siren , with James Graham going over for a try under the post in the dying stages of the match.

Gaz, the SCG is nostalgic and maybe neutral , but a shite of a ground to watch RL. ...

I expected to lose this game before the Warriors loss. I’m 50:50 now. That should fire us up and the Roosters have been poor. But our forwards need to dominate. The Roosters are shit up front.

About time Graham pulled his weight.
