Round 8 vs Roosters

but then St George members would never get the best seats for the Anzac day game wouldn't they?

Not just members but the dollars from the gate. If we assist filling the stadium it's only right that we get the gate every second year. No chance we give the Roosters the gate for a 40 000 + crowd each year while we keep one 10 - 15k gate revenue.

It also has to do with sponsors wanting to be apart of the day and corporates through corporate boxes, etc.

I see Host has been elevated to the top 17 at the expense of Sele.

The reason we play our home game at against Easts on ANZAC day is because it is financially profitable for us to do it. The other reason is because it is located close to town and the people attending ANZAC Day ceremony can attend the game afterwards.

Back in the 80's we used to play some ANZAC day games at Kogarah. I remember one game against Balmain, I think it was 84, where at the end of the minutes silence Skull yelled out from his tree, just outside of the ground "Let the war begin". I was sitting on the other side of the field, close to the sideline and the person next to me, told me what he had said.

I remember that I was sitting northern end on the grass to left of skulls tree

Yeah, bloody oath, Sele had a rubbish game against the Warriors, I don't recal him mentioned once in commentary*

* sarcasm font

Sele actually did well, played 80mins all over the bench and definately had the wood under his opposition. Should only miss a week or so for his grade 3 bum tackle butt his splintorial injury would have ruled him out anyway according to the HIgh Performance Timber Stain from British Paints. Thankfully our Mary was a Painter and can maintain this effort with a Host of players.
Allgood!
Bums up folks.
They’ll have a good crack I’m sure!

Millward must scratch his head sometimes. He retains promising juniors and signs up journeyman to give these young players their experience and what does Mary do ... plays the journeyman in NRL at the expense of the juniors ! Sele hard done by.

As stated before playing 16 and giving 15 about 15 minutes is a recipe for burnout. If it happens again do you think the master coach will try to put the conditioning coach under the bus ? I am very nervous about the next 4 weeks.

This why we have to bounce back from a loss quickly , or it starts to feel like 2017 all over again . We should be OK this year with a good squad good half and a Coach who has had a couple of seasons to work it out ...... Let's hope he has worked it out .....

we will finish top 4. easy games coming up.
Easts, Storm, Souths, Penrith all in the next 5 weeks and you think that is easy?
Yet again supporters living in cocoons and not seeing things for what they really are.
There will be no easy games in this comp and even games that we win well will take their toll on our team due to having a useless coach who knows nothing about how to get to end game with your team in tact and not suffering fatigue and burnout.

It is all well and good to be positive but losing all sense of reality while doing that is ridiculous.
You obviously don't rate anyone but St GI because you can only see easy games ahead.
Such hubris is breathtakingly stupid and in fact is what helps create the push back by people like OV and myself.

Agree , a very tough next few weeks , this period will prove whether or not the Dragons are indeed made of the right stuff - true contenders or have we the same problems as the last few seasons ?

Yeah, this coming 5 weeks is probably the 2nd toughest stretch of our draw, round 17-21 the toughest. And agreed there’s no easy wins, though I may have noticed some posters - possibly you and OV among  them arguing that we can’t put stock in our six wins so far as they weren’t against the best teams.
Also while I think and argued last year the burnout argument didn’t stack up then, it’s a genuine concern this time around as our starting props are averaging longer minutes now. I can but hope that there are plans to manage that workload through the middle of the year.
