Round 8 vs Roosters

I just hope our bench is used more effectively. Latimore, although a hard worker, was left on too long and Vaughan was brought back too late against the Warriors. Really think Nighty is now an average first grader. He and Dufty will be targeted all night, as will Nene - the number of times we allow the high ball to bounce is ridiculous

Home ground advantage is usually reliant on the home crowd, not the specific venue. I'd be very surprised if the ANZAC clashes werent traditionally dominated by dragons fans over Roosters fans, and Allianz is a great venue for watching footy. Strange thing to whinge about.
Unless the rorters rent a crowd as they do. What they have 2000 supporters called the cock pen. The rest are rented by uncle nick.

Except for LAM our bench is of real concern imo.....even Mann when he comes on at times looks a little lost and out of the structure...as for Latimore as you say he tries hard but lacks that impact player role...that leaves Sele and who knows if hes benched for most of the game or gets a run...maybe Host may be a starter

I believe its more than the crowd. It's where you train. It's where you are based. Its the ground you know every inch of.
I played sports as a kid and always felt we had an advantage at our home ground.
Anyway, it is trivial I guess but I just wanted to discuss it. Seems its not an issue for most people here, fair enough.
Next topic.

No I get your point, it’s fine to play the Anzac clash at Allianz.
But why couldn’t the draw be organised well enough so if we do play the Roosters twice, the second game can’t be at Kogarah or the Gong.

I realised my mistake when I typed “draw” and “organised” in the same sentence.

It really doesn’t matter who they put on the bench if McMuppet can’t learn to use it properly.
Vaughn and Graham spend too much time off the field for my liking.
Latimore is a plodder in my opinion.
I still think Host is a better prospect than Sele, but Host seems to have fallen way down the pecking order for some reason.

I still think the bench should be selected on a rotational basis, with Kerr, Laurie, Host all given game time.
If we are going to need more players around origin time these players are going to need experience in first grade.

But then if your not going to put them on the field the point is moot.

I always laugh when watching games and a player goes down with an HIA and the talking bobble heads say “they are going to struggle with one man down”, we play one man down every week, he’s usually sitting on the bench nodding off.

Disagree re Sele. Why the hell wasn't he used?

Yes that maybe the case TruSaint , but I am just being a bit nostalgic about the 'ole gal as she has provided me with so many great memories , hell I even had a full crop of hair back in those days .

I had a crew-cut but the crew seemed to have bailed out!

It's a concern for us tbh. I didn't even consider Host. It's more about the team. I haven't seen him play too much. Is he flying under the radar?

Mary will stuff him around like he does with all of his younger players who are on the bench. Been playing we'll in ISP but if he gets a run off the bench he'll be treated the same as Sele and be lucky to get any game time. Mary has done it with Leilua as well. He doesn't put any trust in them in close games.

I think Host is under contract, but don't be surprised if he asks for a release if he keeps getting overlooked, there are plenty of better judges than me that think he's got the potential.

It wouldnt suprise me to see some shock inclusions in our team list on Tuesday.
Besides our 16 that actually got game time on Friday you have to loom who didnt get game time for ISP yesterday.
Both Host and Allgood didnt play yesterday in ISP but both were named in last weeks 21 team list.
Donr be suprised if Host takes the 17 spot and Allgood replacing Latimore.
Bench would then be:
LAM
Mann
Allgood
Host

Hope the boys rest up before Wednesday and develop a real hunger too sing our song again.

As disapointed as I am there’s not a lot to fix from the loss. Imo they need to review the Warriors tactics as much as what the Roosters have being doing becuase that’s the blueprint to counter us.

I for one was pleased to see them back themselves for a try rather than kick at every penalty but that didn’t end well for us at all. I think I’d be happy to see them go for the two points and get the ball back, at least early on anyway.

I may be off the mark with this as two points are on the line in every game.

Is it possible Mary is using the bench looking forward to the next game? Can it be done, does real time footy make it impossible to factor in.

Really? Sounds like a good deal for the Roosters. I call BS on that theory. The ANZAC clash between roosters and dragons will continue and since it is at the Roosters home ground it should be a roosters home game. To play them every second year twice at their home ground is ridiculous.
but then St George members would never get the best seats for the Anzac day game wouldn't they?

He is in a good place and understands what he has to improve on. I believe it may be to get more mongrel in his game.

Nice in theory, give Sele a rest to keep him fresh for Anzac Day, however, he played a full game in ISP cup the next day.
