I'm not in agreeance that he should have gotten a game.

FG is different. You're either a natural like Xerri and take to it immediately or you should have to grind away in reggies. Look at the physicality and build of those 2. Chalk and cheese. 1 is made for it, 1 isn't yet and may not be.

Lomax has got a name due to a step and flick pass. But when your step is unbelievably predictable and the flick pass hasn't looked like creating anything, you can see the hype isn't translating to NRL standard.

Or continue circle jerking about how he carved it up at a school carnival, either way.
I don't think the predictable step hindered Freddie Fittler's game.
Ps.
Why do I keep reading your rubbish I ask myself ??

Possm mate:
I dont know where you get the notion that Lawrie had a bad game, he was probably our second best forward out there yesterday behind Vaughan. In fact he and Vaughan were the only forwards to run for over 100m (Vaughan 144m, Lawrie 134m). Lawrie also made 39 tackles.
My biggest concern is Tariq Sims, he is either definitely playing injured or playing without confidence or both even. He's definitely lost his impact that he had in 2018.
Agree with you however regarding Field at 6 and keeping Lomax at 3. Anyone suggesting Field should be our goal-kicker doesn't watch CC. His % is about the same as Lafai and he's not a pressure goal kicker. In fact Nichols did the goal kicking in CC yesterday.
Have a look at the strapping around the ribs on Simms in sheds post game, in saying that I think he was a little more aggressive yesterday until the pain killers started wearing off. Ribs can take up to 6 weeks.

Just curious why some think Rava should be dropped? He has improved since round 1 and for his lack of experience has shown good vision in setting up that team try against Parra, and has the ability to switch hands to get an offload away in that same play. Also, he was the one who sent JP away against the Roosters the week before.

He makes strong returns and shows good vision.
Is this Round 9 Warriors v Saints or Lomax v Aitken thread?

Whatever 17 gets trotted out I hope they can make us proud again. We will definitely need 4 forwards on the bench because the Warriors forwards will be chomping at the bit to run over the top of our little blokes.
Back to the thread,
Have our tickets with my new Warriors son in law & my Grandson, winning team will decide on who he supports, Dads team or Poppy's & Mums team. LOL

Hello Mr. Dufty, please ask your son to put his body on the line when defending.

some kids have attributes that make them NRL ready.
Look at Xerri for the Sharks. A physical presence, quick, solid.

Lomax's skills worked against kids, in a bit of hit and giggle, but NRL is different.
He looks slow, not there physically either side of the ball, and predictable.
He needs time playing reserve grade against men. NRL isn't the place to learn this stuff.

Blast me all you want for this but,

I dont read this forum enough to know if this bloke is a toss or not and I'm sure you all have your reasons to be reacting the way you do to his posts but I will say he does have a point here.
Lomax obviously has talent, There is no denying that but he definitely isnt lightning fast or powerful yet. He had two great opportunities to score against Parra close to the line and imo theres no doubt Aitken would have powered over for the try as he has shown countless times before. Lomax has a nice step but hasn't yet got the power to break the tackle.
It's a tough one. Do you go for a powerful centre that will score more often than not near the try line but leaks points in defence by rushing up leaving his winger exposed and cant pass?
Or go for the young goal kicker that could help us win by adding the two points that has a nice step but not enough power yet to break the line but defends better?

Either way I love them both as players and they have their strengths and weaknesses.

The defence on each of those opportunities was first class. Who's to say Aitken wouldn't have been stopped as well?

Not sure about first class but yes thats a possibilty. But with all Aitkens downfalls and the criticism he gets he is a machine near the line in that position and IMO he more often than not would have scored there.

Very interested to see how the players react... yesterday’s fundamental errors need to be owned by them... Important they make a statement and then back it up against Newcastle and the Sharks , all winnable games going into the bye after that... Field and Kerr in ...time for Latimore to go

Aitken scores around 7 tries a year but you have him scoring 2 magical tries in one game.
Why isn't he racking up 20 a year.

I'm just stating what my thoughts were when i was watching the game.
Geez people in here get their knickers in a twist easy. By your logic Tariq Sims scores 2 a year but there we were last year aginst the broncs 3 in ten minutes! OMG! Magical i tell you!

If buts and maybe posts are bullshit. Fact is he was dropped for under performing.

All the debate about Lomax vs Aitken on here assumes neither can play left centre (for coaching staff to get the thinking right that term needs to go and revert to 'outside centre'). It is an unfortunate part of the modern game that has crept in over past 10-15 yrs. A good first grade centre must have the ability to attack and defend on both sides ie. Latrell Mitchell, Greg Ingles or Gaz, Hodges. If we are talking 'Hard Nosed' team selections,

I would pick them both and put Lomax to outside centre (4), rest Tim Laifi. Mary isn't likely to do that so I would say go with Aitken for now, but tell him he is on notice defensively, pending being dropped if no improvement. I cannot understand why a back who is primarily a one position specialist is on the bench, so whoever out of Aitken, Lomax and Laifi doesn't get a run on spot, plays NSW Cup.

Jai Field has earned his elevation and should have played 6 in 2018 when Widdop got injured. Mary thought so highly of K Mann that he released him yet picked him above a quality local junior. Jai Field is a good kicker and should be given the job over the next month unless Lomax is on the field at that time. Speaking of Lomax considering Field is a good goal kicker, Lomax should only be picked because he the best option or it may act as a demotivater from giving his all for those 1% plays

As for four forwards on the bench, all I can say is the game allows the little men to take advantage of fatigue, so at least one position versatile creative smaller player should always be on the bench and to go with 4 forwards will make us super predictable. A hooker or a half who can play fullback or hooker competently, has to be 100 times better than an outside back who seems incapable of playing their best if not playing in their specialist position. Other two spots go to a workhorse forward who can cover backrow injuries, a Prop for resting starting guys, an impact forward (short intense bursts) and the forth is the creative hooker/half/fullback who can cover a few positions and most of all, spark the attack at the back half end of each half.

Tariq Sims isn't playing his best and may be injured but the play isn't going his way enough

1.Dufty
2. Maranta
3. Aitken
4. Laifi
5. Rapara
6. Field
7. Hunt
8. Graham
9. McInnes
10. Vaun
11. K.Sims
12. T.Sims
13. Lawrie (Frizzell if fit)
14. Luciana
15. Latimore
16. Kerr (Drops out for Lawrie if Frizzell fit)
17. Allgood

18th man Runciman (playing well, first grade experience who can play back row and as outside back well)

That team will win more than they loose im certain and I have no hatred of any I left out nor am I rusted on about any who I put in. Love to see Mary have that apptoach even if he picks different players
