Penisini cause he’s besties with sualli is what I read somewhere

Re signed with Parra til 2025. He might go after that I guess.

He hasn't played with Sualii in years but he came from RU and hasn't ruled it out. Why would he at the cash they're throwing around from redrawing on Phil Waugh's mortgage

He didn’t come from union he grew up in Quakers Hill and played league , went to St Pats Blacktown in year 7 which is a massive league nursery, and was offered a scholarship to Kings the following year, where they have to play union for the school.

The Parramatta Eels paid the tuition fees at Kings School, as that is one of the few payments that are encouraged and can be paid by clubs for juniors. Sualii fees were paid by Souths .

The strident claims that these kids are union juniors is hollow, my grandson went to Oakhill and at least half of their sides were league boys who had to play union , and the school made sure that Saturday games did nothing to allow them to play for their junior league teams.

There was a big article in the smh a few months ago about how NRL clubs pay for kids to go to GPS schools on the understanding they come back to the NRL club once they've finshed school. I read the article 5 times and couldn't understand why NRL clubs do this and what is in if for them ??

Anyways , the quickest way to put the final nail in Rugby's coffin would be to some how get private schools offering league as an option for kids to play.

"Yeah, we've got about three or four that are ready to sign mate, big names too, big names -- I can't tell you now [who they are] " Jones told The Breakdown with a grin.

"I think it adds to the competitive tension. If you open the Daily Telegraph in Sydney, you've got to go to the last page, and even the last page now has probably got lawn bowls on it now instead of rugby.

"So we need to get rugby back competing as a winter sport. And by signing a guy like Suaali'i, it helps that. If we sign two or three others, it'll help that and it'll also show kids [what's available].

"A lot of the kids now go to a big private school and by the time they're 15, if they're good, if they're good readers of the game, they catch and pass - they've got a Rabbitohs contract or a Roosters contract in front of them.

"And the inevitability of that is hard to stop because we're competing against 17 clubs that all have the recruitment budget of Rugby Australia. So we've got to get some of those players back and ideally we keep more of them at a young age, which we have to do, but then to get a few of them back after they've done an apprenticeship in rugby league is fantastic."

Jones is a master at playing the media, he knows that out of Suaaliis 5mil contract Rugby has gained more than that in front page news advertising. He would have loved Suaallii being picked for SOO, it would have been 80 minutes of free prime time advertising.

Jones is right about 1 thing, Lawn bowls gets more media attention than Rugby :D

A lot more end to end action in bowls and the old fellas with their schooners move a lot quicker than the fat slugs lying all over the ball in one of their many borefest ruck and mauls.

The bit about kids in private schools being offered rugby league contracts if they are half decent just isn't true
Players on rugby league scholarships going to private schools (fees paid by NRL club), playing rugby union and then going back to rugby league is the truth
