Also glad others have noticed the AI's amazing ability for the intercept. I find you CAN intercept the computer most the time tho if you select the player that anticipates the cut out and runs forward. Sometimes it is automatic, but mostly you need to select your interceptor.

I have no problems if the computer wants to rush up and go for the intercept, as long as you can counter it. -I am not skilled enough to dummy a long pass and grubber in behind and then select a player to run onto the ball for a regather into space. Only think this can work properly in co-op and AI seems to just react with lightning timing to your plays! -Even on Amateur. I am predicting a lot of these annoyances to be either patched out or fixed when the new ver comes out. But like most people I am very much enjoying the challenge and excitement this game is bringing to overlook the bad commentary and BS AI cheap moves.

havent kept up to date with stuff - is there any evidence there will be a patch to sort this shit out (which should have been picked up in beta testing)

Quite the opposite, there has been planty of mentions that this will not happen... and with the cost of patching on XBL and Playstation ANNNNNND with a console cycle change upcoming I wouldnt hold my breath...

yeah i wasnt holding out that there'd be a patch. it's a shame that whilst they've gone forwards to some extent they seem to have gone full genius on other things

might borrow my brothers and play for a bit, but since neither of us play online i dont know how much fun the game will be in single player on any decent difficulty level due to the AI issues you've mentioned.

I will go one further and say that certain things in this game should have been picked up with simple in office play...

Having said that testing is expensive and we have to live with the steps fowared and back that we get from a small game dev producing a niche sports title... The budget wont be there BUT we can hope that they take the positive steps and experience gained and get better at working with a smaller budget.

@Pierced... I still think that there is fun to be had on single player if you find the level that you suits you... the game is still insanely fun when things work, and in the games you do win you notice its because you have done the right things... its just about the consistency in which they happen i guess..

No Mattyg1, thats the issue Iam suffering at the moment. Iam playing on pro level & winning 3 out of every 5 games. The biggest issue I have is the rushing defense of the AI. Here is an example...

I got tackled a couple of meters from the opposition try line, I wanted to throw it out wide to score so I held the pass button & hit "O" PS3....the pass was intercepted & the opposition ran the length of the field & scored.

That same game I tackled a player several meters from my try line right under the posts, he passed 3 times!!!! 3 f**king times to his winger who scored...& watching the slow motion replay the final pass went straight through my wingers body?!?!? Not in front...not behind...but straight through.

Iam starting to think that an increase in level doesnt mean the AI plays better, I think the game cheats more....which equals lazy design.
When this happens the enjoyment of the game is stolen.

pretty sure this is where the tactics come in. i'm only slowly starting to use them. When attacking close to the line i press down on the pad and my players seem to drop back so i can pass it with depth

Yeh good advice here natheel. Still playing with that stuff. Really wish you could hit select or something to change the camera angles too. Most the time I prefer the side/broadcast so you can see the gaps to run into/defend, but kicking and aim I prefer the behind camera.

Been watching a lot of the YouTube vids for this too. Is xbox better graphics than ps3? -mine seem nice, but xbox look so smooth and players also seem to run around free'er. Maybe that's just the grass looking greener tho.

A lot of you guys seem to be beyond amature mode and into the higher levels. I am still struggling to string together wins and often find myself quitting/restarting the game if it's a loss I feel robbed by or can't afford. Tapping X to score only to see my player grubber it dead was a real screamer on my last game where I was down by 2 with 3 mins to go GRRR!!

I'd say it has less to do with attitude and more to do with affordability.

Considering it took them how long to release the AFL Game of the Year Patc... errr Edition...

Bigant are looking into a patch, they really want to patch this game up, they are really passionate about this game and it shows in the huge jump in quality over the first one, just give it some time.

Yeah I am still crossing my fingers for a patch. I think the game has had a succesful first week of sales also and is heavily backed by cashed up sponsors. Id pay $10 towards patching it if it means even better gameplay!

Oh and X on the PS3 controls is try or grubber (i know square also scores, but sometimes you just hit the x button without thinking just before you cross and it grubbers instead! Learning the hard way there

Ditto....a $10 payment for a patch & roster update for the next couple of years & I would pay. This game would be a 10/10 IF some of the annoying, little issues were patched out.....& I can have Gordon & Lewis in my team.

(Or add something in the patch to enable download of other peoples roster updates)
