Rumour Simona gone for 2014

So if there's a surplus, why give Richards a contract and then release a guy with two years to go on his contract.

This is not smart business at all.

Do one or the other, not both.

This whole situation has been poorly managed. We didn't need Richards, and we could have retained Ayshford and Simona.

They probably only have to pay an extra 10 or 20 k a year for him.

Yet again, we'll be paying for another player for 2 more years who is no longer at the club.

I doubt this is the case at all, have a look at Meyer's Twitter account as he seems to infer the opposite.

Now we just need to get rid of Moltzen and the backline looks quite good, with plenty of options.

Fullback: Tedesco (Simona/Nofoaluma/Richards)
Wingers: Nofoaluma, Koroibete (Richards/Simona/Naiyaravaro)
Centres: Lawrence, Simona (Nofoaluma/Richards)

Don't go counting them chickens to quickly.

Ashyford, next Fifita. Playing deadset ugly, then comes out firing at another club.

You reckon?

Comparing Ayshford to Fifita is like comparing a crack in the wall to the Grand Canyon.

The only one that couldn't see the potential of Fifita was the Sheenious.

If this means the Tigers retain Simona it will be a great result.

Reading Mayers comments, it would appear Simona is locked in, or certainly is going to be. He is talked of as though he is part of the future of the club....

Moltzen and Ayshford feature in a couple of very good tries in the highlights reel on youtube. Moltzen is quick and has much to offer a team lacking spark but with an aggressive pack of forwards.

Say what you like about Potter, but I think he has done well so far, despite the massive injury toll.

And to be able to think forward to next year amidst this bad season, is excellent foresight.

We are looking like this going forward:

1 Teddy
2 Nufo
3 Simona
4 Lawrence
5 Koro
6 Marshall - maybe and regardless - for now.
7 Brooks
8 Woods
9 Farah
10 Galloway
11
12 Blair
13 Fulton

Just ONE missing piece.....

;)

And he should be for a player who came through SG Ball with the Tigers. It sends a message to our juniors there is a place in the NRL if you are willing to work for it. Simona has not had an easy path but obviously he has taken his chance. Well done.

Hybrid, this is the formation of a good backline, I think it is funny though you stopped at 6. Is that because you don't think Benji will be here or you feel others may have better claims on the position? I just hope with a good half in place (Brooks perhaps) and speed to burn with the outside backs Benji lifts for one last hurrah.

I like Ayshford and it's sad to see him go, but tough decisions need to be made and I believe the club is better of being able to keep Simona. I wish Blake well and thank him for his service to the team. Not a superstar but a solid first grader who has done some good things on the field.

with Ashyford gone and hopefully Lote Tuqiri, Matt Utai and Joel Reddy all gone. the signing of Richards doesn't seem so foolish. it adds some expirence to a young back 5.

This is a brilliant move.

We can now keep Simona as a centre without having to shift out Koro or Nufo.

To tell you the truth, I could see the backline forming like this:

1. Teddy
2. Richards
3. Simona
4. Lawrence
5. Nufo

With Koro in reserves untill someone gets injured (with our history will happen game 1-3 of next year).

It is strange though how many players are defecting to the Sharks. We really don't want Cronulla to seem like this amazing club for WT players to move to once they are sick of playing at WT...could be damaging to our development

Hold your horses, I've heard Souths are in talks with Lawrance, apparently both him and Ayshford were given permission to talk with other clubs.

Lawrence is only 24. Has got class. Havent seen it since the injury but id hate to see him regain it at another club. Id give him another 12 months.

Ayshford has no class. But a solid first grader.

Potter is getting active and shaking things up. Good on him.
