Rumour Simona gone for 2014

My guess is that we have other players in our sights. It seems like we are finally getting our shit together so I wouldn't be surprised to see a quality backrower being signed

I have a question for those of you who might also follow or have an interest in the ESL. Are there any good prospects there who may be able to solve our second row problems?

Obviously Potter has coached there and would know the quality of most of them, Hodgo and Richards are still playing there, you would think they might be able to influence at least one 'gun' second rower to the club.

I had a bit of a look at who is available in Australia and I don't think there is anyone who really meets our needs AND is available. I can't help but think what Ellis did in his time here and when you look at The Burgess Bros and James Graham, there is no doubt good players running around in the ESL.

Any thoughts?

Why do people insist on us turning backs into back rowers?

Have read that we should keep/move Ayshford, Reddy and Lawrence to the back row. Will they offer the team anymore than say, Fulton, Bell, Sue, Thompson, Blair even ?

Not like these guys are 18 or 19.

There are some guys who have moved with plenty of success, Lewis being the prime example and there are some guys who can move to 5/8 , e.g. Bird

Siro for me is a different matter he is young enough and will have the size in a year or 2 but for me, he will be best served at lock.

I don't see how Lawrence to the back row would work. .If his hamstrings are shot now I can't see them getting any better with more weight.

So surely their money is more than ample to cover Simona.

Utai and Reddy would be on the minimum money, surely.

Did Lote actually sign a contract for this year?

Never saw anything to confirm that.

You seem quite keen on Ayshford and Lawrence - I'm struggling to understand why given their form over the past 18 months.

To persevere with them and let good young talent go would be criminal.

Ayshford officially signed with the Sharks for two years starting 2014.

This is excellent news, means Simona will be retained.

This is good news. The club seems to moving in the right direction. I rate Ayshford as a player but I think we have better options. Good luck to him.

I guess Ayshford could see the writing on the wall with the Tigers, contract or not, he needed to secure a position in first grade.

He can no doubt see these young guys at the Tigers were going to push him out of the centre position, so his options were go to the Sharks who are short on centres, or move into the forwards at the Tigers...I think he probably took the best option for himself, I think he is a little too light to be a forward but he is solid at centre.

I wish him luck....

well at the sharks you have the incomprable Ben Pomeroy, Super Soft Matt Wright and the NSW Cup Allstars.

That said, Lootelly is a good young player who is now injured.

Don't go counting them chickens to quickly.

Ashyford, next Fifita. Playing deadset ugly, then comes out firing at another club.

So did Benji really agree to terms with Union two days ago?

Sharks played us again.

Ayshford contracted to the tigers til 2015.

Sharks sign him til 2015.

They probably only have to pay an extra 10 or 20 k a year for him.

Yet again, we'll be paying for another player for 2 more years who is no longer at the club.

Who knows what the contract terms are. I think we can agree that we have a surplus of outside backs at this point and more than a couple need to be let go. Personally I'd prefer Ayshford to be let go out of all the available options at this point.
