no that would a straight out contract
I know, the point is they can earn extra money.

I'd say there Burton absolutely goes for the right money to play half. Spine pays much better than forwards.
Winners don’t food food on the table money does.It will be what the amount difference is.I don’t blame him
$30k per Origin game. Extra TPA's that come with winning.
Say Burton takes overs to go be a half in a bad team. When that deal is over no way a high price half is staying if the team is missing finals still.
No way he is playing rep footy either. That is why players stay at good teams for less
I'd rather win and play rep then just take the money. Evens itself out in the end

Matt is a moron if he stays and plays in ths forwards. Less money, shorter career, more damage to his body. The kid is a half and a very good one

You’re thinking like an older, wiser head. Someone who’s just starting out doesn’t put as much weight on winning. Playing starting footy in your preferred position, whilst getting paid handsomely would be more attractive.
Playing with your mates is going to mean a lot to a 20 year old. Most 20 year olds want to have fun with their mates. They will look to play their preferred positions eventually but I think there is a fair chance they will sign shorter extensions and sacrifice money even to stay in a winning situation with their mates. They will need to see potential for regular game time though.

Time will tell in respect of our players, but the fact is many players have stayed at clubs like the Storm, the Broncos and the Roosters for less money because they want to be part of a winning culture and have a good career. Read the biographies of some of the ex-players, many of them talk about being approached by clubs with big money on offer but choose to stay for less money. Shane Webke is a notable example. He said he never regretted turning down bigger money. Football first, money second.
I think it is fairly simple, you are either somebody who cares more about the money or you don't. There is no way any sane person would have watched the Bulldogs for the last two years and followed their board shenanigans in the last five years and thought "yep, that's the club for me, I can't wait to sign. Even better now they have a young coach who failed in his last coaching job".
If football is first, players will stay, it its money, then they will go. The Bulldogs offer absolutely nothing to players to attract them. Nothing. A losing culture, the board imploding, a terrible roster so bad they just released 8 players. Ok, you get more money and you get to start every week. You get really good at kick offs and standing behind the goal posts watching the opposition convert tries.
Look what the Bulldogs culture and training regime has done to at DWZ. I hardly recognised the player being driven back 10 metres in every run. A shadow of the player he was when he left. What have they done to him? He was always error prone, but he was strong and run with purpose and heart. That is the fate that awaits any player daft enough to be attracted to the shiny gold on offer at the Bulldogs.
If they go for the money, they aren't the right type of player for the Panther's and we are best to let them go.
No, because if they have confidence in their ability, they will try and compete at the Panthers. Staines will replace Mansour or Edwards. Burton can play lock, centre or fullback. Does getting a guaranteed start at a lesser team help your career? You don’t seem to be giving any weight to the idea of playing regular FG footy, indeed possibly playing any footy if reserve grade doesn’t go ahead.
For someone like Burton it won’t just be a question of money. Being guaranteed a starting spot in the halves is about footy.
He will not be playing origin anytime soon .So you could add 1 million and it’s safeThank you, franklin. My sentiments exactly.
A half playing as a half sure helps his career more than anything elseNo, because if they have confidence in their ability, they will try and compete at the Panthers. One thing you can say for certain, if you have the talent, you will get a chance at the Panther's. The days of signing Burns, Ciraldo et al are gone. Seven debutants at the Panthers in two years.
