Yeah there was no quotes re player managers being reluctant but there was quotes from the guy leading this leadership contest for the board basically saying laundy doesn’t own the club and he can piss off now. Major sponsor is threatening to walk if they don’t have some influence, the minor sponsors are apparently threatening to walk if the major sponsor does have influence. Also the former leagues club chair is about to launch legal action over his removal from that post according to the SMH. The place is pretty f**ked right now basically.

The Laundy group is the major sponsor in question.

If you let a sponsor be involved in running the club, then you're placing your club in serious jeopardy. What if the sponsor is useless at the things they want to be involved in (I think Laundy wants to get involved in recruitment)? What do you do? if you stop them doing it you lose sponsorship dollars, if you let them continue they cause serious operational issues and impact the viability of the club.

What you are really saying is "You can buy our soul for pieces of silver". I am flabbergasted that the Chairman would agree to such an arrangement.

If a sponsor wants to get involved in running a club, then they need to buy equity in it or try and get elected on the board, not flash cash around like a pimp in Vegas.

Wow that is a bit suspect. Ive got a feeling the fight over control of the club will get worse before it gets better.
The omens for Barrett aren't good. Many - a club torn apart with management issues, roster problems left by Hasler.. Barrett sacked. Bulldogs - a club torn apart with management issues, roster problems left by Hasler. Anyone see a pattern here?

Yep he would be worried. No real senior players on the roster now either besides Jackson. Foran and Tolman are out, I guess Napa is one also. But their is a leadership void in the roster to go along with all the other issues.

How much do you figure Luai would be worth now? Salary cap is likely going down 10% approx, my guess is he’d command around the 500k mark.

Yeah but what do you have to go by $500k sounds reasonable but that is under what he could get on the open market
Luai has already shown a great deal of patience to get his place in the club.
All the articles and stories about the bond to his teammates seem very real.
He will definitely be hearing bigger offers but hopefully it’s about more than maximum dollars to him.
A lot of players are going to have to take unders to stay together.

As a club go hard for those in the top side. The rest if they go then they go

A huge difference will be whether we will win the comp or not within this year and 2021. Win the comp, and I think players will be going for the dollar elsewhere.

They will be in high demand which goes with being so successful.

500k under the new cap, I probably would’ve said 600k on the old cap. I wouldn’t pay more than that after one good season. As much as I like Luai we can’t get into the position of overpaying, especially when we have depth in the position.

Yeah but there are more teams buying then selling that will push the price up. That is the problem with so many off contract together

The second most try assists in the NRL and just turned the 2 x premiers semi final defence inside out like a tube sock on laundry day and you think $500k? Allegedly, Hunt is on $1m, Milford $800k DCE, $1m. He must be worth at least $750k.
