Rona has proven a great finisher with plenty of toe and probably on the books for ~200K...

Hopoate is a proven slug, albeit with potential to improve, and probably asking for 600K....

Big big gamble IMO

EDIT - probably worth noting that given Rona's 2015 season and the increase in salary cap i the coming years, he will be after a pay increase on his next deal, but at least it will be warranted if his form continues... not just making demands based on form from3-4 years ago which seems to be the way Hoppa is operating..

Don't be fooled by Hopoate's reported contract figures. He will only end up getting paid what clubs are willing to offer. If he only gets one offer, that's what he'll take, no matter how low. It's not like he's the Keating brothers, where he can quit footy and earn six figures in the family business.

As for Rona, he's a good finisher but that's about it. His go forward is ordinary, and he can't play fullback or centre.

Hmm how many times have you heard that a club have "withdrawn their offer from the table".

If Hoppa wins the case it may be that our rogue CEO failed to accompany his dumb offer with a rider like..

"Our instructions are that formal legal obligations are not to arise between the parties until such time as NRL Contracts have been entered into and registered with the NRL, the Club reserve the right to withdraw from the negotiations, until the formal exchange of Contracts + registration have been effected."
