I agree with you on the showing what they promised they would do before elected, but they cant do much with the playing roster because of the contracts some people have been signed too. Which is none of their faults! And no 2011 is too far away for me, and I would love to see our boys winning now, but we need to be realistic. I am not going to let myself be as disapointed as I was last year, the less you expect the better, ( well for me that is the way I have to think or it is unbearable).

Im skeptical about the whole thing, but they did say the money wouldn't come until Denis was gone, so I still live in hope.

One thing is for certain,

A lot of our salary cap comes off-contract at the end of 2010, as does one Jonathon Thurston.

I have a spare seat in the Cronin Stand for Erin if he signs

I think we'll all have a spare seat for Erin, Gronk ;-)

Braith Anasta.

Yeah, I heard that too Fathead, posted about it in the Karmichael Hunt thread. What do you think of that idea?

has nyone else heard that matt head wants out
of his contract with dragons?

I think he is off-contract at the end of this year anyways? I'm not sure.

He is a bit of a Ben Smith case, with the knees playing around with his career and all, but he does have good skill and a good kicking game. I think he's just looking for an opportunity more than anything. He would come cheap which is a bonus but I don't think we should be buying a half outside the club at the moment unless it is a small deal. We should prime ourselves for a bid for Thurston. Does anyone else honestly think that if we put in $500-$600k it'd be too much for Thurston? Because honestly I think we should be prepared to offer him that type of money and secure him in order to attract other players to the club who would no doubt play for less in order to be alongside someone of Thurston's calibre.

What are people's thoughts on that?

i think that he would be a great signing for parramatta
but i juz dnt think that we shud put all our money in to one player.

Well considering most of our cap comes off-contract next year, if we were to secure someone like Thurston for that type of money, I think a lot of players both internally and externally would sign on for less to play with someone like Thurston.

Considering that this year and next, most of our team will/has come off-contract. We have re-signed the players who will help take us forward, being Fui, Reddy, Keating, Hindmarsh to name a few.

We then have Hayne, Inu, Keating, Cayless, Burt, Hauraki, Oake and Mateo coming off-contract next year. We will have money to spend. Players like Hayne, Inu and Mateo will thrive off someone like Thurston being in the team and I think even they would all take a pay-cut for someone like him to be in the team. With that in mind, other players would want to come to our team too, to play with these type of players and probably for considerably less.

yeah perhaps. or it might push players like hayne inu keatings and mateo away because they'll be getten big money offered from clubs in NRL, ESL, S14 and overseas rugby. but to have all them players + thurston you would have to think the eels would be in with a chance.

Thurston would be a fantastic buy...... if we had the forwards to get a roll on for him to do his best work.
