Alex McKinnon just been told he'll be a quadriplegic. :-(
Oh noooo,...... dear oh dear oh dear oh dear...
I'm crying to this news right now.
Am feeling very saddened....... :(
My heart pours out to you Alex and family....
Bar the most unfortunate of accidents, the rules of the game MUST change so this NEVER happens again. Three man tackles might have to be abolished or at least three man tackles can only be accepted without the lifting of a player towards a tilt position. meaning the player is held in a standing position.
Rugby League may as well be thrown in the bin if we don't change the tackling rules to protect ALL players lives.
For f**ks sake its ONLY a game, it's not The Roman Coliseum.

Sorry, I'm still just gutted big-time.....
We don't have TV and we don't buy newspapers so unless we happen to stroll to NRL.com we ONLY get to find out what is going on through friends, emails or posts in Facebook, YouTube, our Love For Life website or in this forum or that other Parra Eels forum that helped to f**k off 3P.

Do you go to Eels games Casper, or do you watch them at the non-materialistic pub?
Streaming on the full-on fictionalised internet.
If we can't get to a game we watch all games live on the internet (no pay to view like Fox etc) and no we don't drink booze or smoke or take ElephantJuice or have sex. We're clean living f**kwits and proud of it. ;-)

That's a far point - but like lingers said, Ken "The Mayor of Parramatta" Thornett never won a title, but he has a stand named after him, and those fortunate enough to have seen him play day he was the greatest.

Forget Hayne's captaincy or his off-field antics - his attributes are incredible. The size of a forward; the speed of a back; and the skill of a half. I have not seen too many Eels who combined all these traits so well.

And I certainly can't recall too many Eels who won World Cups and NSW's best player in different positions to where they play at a club level.

I respect people's opinions, and I understand my statement is controversial, but in my mind, Hayne is a freak and a once in a lifetime talent.

From watching Parra play since the early 1960's, Ray Price is KING of Parra.
Refer to my earlier post in this thread regarding Ray Price.

Hayne could be amazing if he could find his form from 6 seasons ago. He needs to get more involved and do something. He's got it in him if he applies himself again I think.
Or maybe he's best days are but a distant memory.
Don't get me wrong, he's still a star but he could be so much better.

He lacks that extra mile of gutsyness that Ray Price had.
When the pressure is really on hard, Jarryd consistently falls into a wimp "state" and there his standards remain.
To be a truly great "all-time" player and regardless how taxing a game can get and regardless how battered his body might be, Jarryd needs to find that extra mile that Ray Price had with his never say die attitude.
This is the ONLY thing left holding Jarryd back.
When he conquers this bullshit attitude he will also become the next great 6 of "all time" with a string of premierships in his trophy cabinet.
THEN and ONLY then will Jarryd have surpassed the almighty King of the Eels, Ray Price.

I think Peats could be our next ray price
It's looking promising YY.
We need a REAL leader both between the ears and on the field.
The thought of Poo Poo sharing the toughness and durability of Peats under-the-pump at the Holsworthy army barracks in Sydney while he was still at Soufs resonates right now.....
Peats, please be our next Ray Price mongrel merkin :pray::pray:

Sounds like you've got a mongrel right now.

You must be bringing out the best of me!

Slightly off topic, have noticed the mods deleting many harmless posts and then some more by moving various posts into the swamp.
What the f**k.......
What does your intel tell us?

Hey Poo, I reckon with Mossop coming back and playing in the middle we'll have the defense up the ruck and either side to counter hard punching, good line running packs like the roosters and sea eagles. Mossop can play 80 minutes and appears to have plenty of mongrel in him which I hope Peats brings the best out of him (a bit of Tommy Bishop westy slapping before a game - so to speak).

Well mate I hope Mossop doesn't have to play 80 minutes. He's a f**king big bloke and it will mean that he is pacing himself if he plays 80 minutes in the middle.

We only need two props on the field at a time, and with two more on the bench that works out to a neat 40 minutes each (on average). Against the bigger packs we might stick another prop in the 13, but the problem there is you are agreeing to play to the opposition's strengths.

Bad management is what happens after the player is signed. At the time he is signed the club only knows what they know, and every signing carries some risk. Depending on their circumstances every club has to accept a certain level of risk, and the weakest clubs have to accept more than others.

Of course every merkin is an expert in hindsight.

Let's explore that further.

If our club announced that they have signed Matt Orford to play halfback would you say that is a good signing?
