Sterlo would be a hooker in today's game and I reckon he would be even better then what he did at halfback

He was very good defensively and his kicking game and ability to control a game reminds me of how smith plays

No I would still consider in a halfback.
Paul Taylor would be the hooker

It is in reference to if Pete and Paul were playing today.

Edge would be hooker or ball playing backrower

Fair enough. You could be right. But I always thought (sacrilege, I know) that Steve Ella was just ever so slightly over-rated.
I think Kenny and Cronin were both better centres than Ella. And Simon's kicking game gives him an edge at five-eight. I think he would bring another dimension to that incredible back-line.
Terry Lamb taking out Ella with the head high had a large bearing of us losing the '84 grand final

I can't imagine how good it would be to see Sterlo playing half with the 10m rule.

I remember watching a series on the Ella (Rugby Union) brothers and Mark was asked who was the most talented of the Ella's. Straight faced and without hesitation he said that would be there cousin Steve. If it wasn't for his knee injury in 1980 I would go as far to say that Sterling who was slightly younger and to that point playing 5/8 and half may have been in the halves with Ella at seven if it wasn't for his knee injury.

Cronin was bigger than Campese or Sutton. Anyway, I watched Cronin for his entire career. How about you?

I stopped watching him in 1982. How'd he go after that?

Also, it sounds like you haven't watched Sutton or Campese. The shorter of the two (Campese) is 184cm, and both players are over 100kg. Cronin was nowhere near that big when I stopped watching him in 1982. Maybe he grew a couple of inches and twenty five pounds in the years after.

Sure, but it wouldn't make him taller than 5'10", unless he bought some of those lengthening pills on the internet.

Yeah ..... I dunno ........... one day you're probably going to look back on 'the good old days' and you'll probably rave on about how good Jarryd Hayne was ....... and some silly young f**kers will just make jokes about it. I don't get how people can say they are passionate supporters of the club, but have no regard for the history of the club. Seems very superficial to me.
