We don't need to sign forwards from outside the club. Not to say that they wouldn't improve us, but we are already good enough in the middle, and we have enough money tied up there.

Well MoiMoi will soon retire so that would free up some money. I think we need a bit more punch up the middle, backs are solid, second rowers are pretty good but we just need a leader at the front. Mannah is good but he just doesn't have what Grant has.

Depends what you mean by leadership. Lussick has the aggression, Mannah keeps rolling forward, and who knows what kind of player Lee Mossop will turn out to be.

Casper, at 17years and 150kg I don't think that kid has the genetics to play any sport involving even a moderate level of cardio fitness. That isn't me trying to take a pot shot at him either. Just saying it looks like he has the genetics to just always be a massive unit, even if he does lose some of his excess weight, and that it would put his cardiovascular system under enormous pressure playing a sport like league or union at a high level.

He just managed 60 minutes!

But looking at his picture, one imagines that he will shed 20-30kgs over the next couple of years if he is fairdinkum about playing at the top level.

Tariq Sims apparently negotiating for a release from his contract with the Cowboys in order to move to Sydney according to Triple M.

If we have any room to 'wiggle', then we should do whatever we can to add this bloke. Massive talent and enforcer in that middle backrower position. It happens to be our position of biggest weakness, and having a fringe Origin player added to our backrow would be enormous.

Looks like he'll be making the move at the end of the year, and getting out of his final year with the Cows (next season). According to the article it's Dragons or Sharks chasing him (although Merrin or Gallen play the same position for those teams so?)

American football might be more his go.

The cardio aspect of league has always limited the size of players, and until this year that limit had gotten up over 130kg (Kasiano and probably some others). However the change in rules has sped the game up, and I doubt it's any coincidence that Kasiano is stuck in reserve grade, and the only time JWH made more than 75 metres this year was in the wet (against us).

you reckon he'd be able to do it at a high level? I may be wrong but I can't see a kid that size making it. In saying that I'd be surprised if there aren't nfl talent scouts having a look at him to play gridiron.

If he loses 20-30 kgs he's half a chance (as I said!) I only noted the minutes because it's impressive that he can play that long against men whilst carrying so much spare change.

And there'd be a ton of blokes that size in the high school systems in the USA who are already playing gridiron. He'd want to make the switch quickly if he's going to learn how to play in the offensive or defensive line (or lose weight to make it as a running back...)

I agree. I wouldn't sign any forwards. Kelepi, Pauli, Ualesi, Santi and Junior Paulo are all players that will step up if needed. There is also that kid Moroea and Alvaro. Just keep this squad and if salary cap pressure begins the players I would cut would be Ben Smith, Moimoi and possibly Allgood.

He did start in A grade last as a front rower which is a fair for a 17 year old

You can add josh Aloai the kid is a machine but the scary part about Tepai is we can probably throw him in FG now and compete well

Not sure if you have seen the Holden Cup thread Stagger but Big Pete wrapped the efforts of Matterson and Aloai.

Edit - And Fred Junior Mauala for that matter.

So, what, we're only going to be in the market for back-up three-quarters? Maybe a starting winger, if anything?

It's all great to think we have all we need but the thought of not buying anyone, especially good players, gives me a bit of a bad feeling.

HJ, don't see BA as a coach that will ignore the obvious and not recruit. Think he will look for a couple of players upfront with size to compliment what we have, not disappointed with Gower, knows exactly what to do - Allgood has a question mark going forward with Lussick/ Mossop and the young big forwards looking for a gig

What areas do you want to buy? Are you happy with our 1,6,7,9?
Are you happy with our centres? Hollywood this is a very good team. All it needs is time too ferment like a fine wine.

I don't see too many bad areas other than players not at there peak. Maybe Sio spot but he is ok. We buy than be prepared too loose guys like Kelepi.

Who in the team is at there peak? Id say Hayne-Sandow -Mannah-Tonga-Peats

Norman will slowly improve as will Hoppa.Who I don't think BA is using in attack yet till he is fit.
Lussick would be close but not at peak. But guys like Semi-Jnr Paulo-PauliPauli-Mau-Edwards-Joe Paulo( changing his game)-Terepo-Tanginoa are still learning there game in first grade.By mid year they will be way a lot better and than theres Mossop to come in and LOKO.
