I'd be looking at the possibility of letting Sandow go at the end of next year and replacing him with someone more consistent. I like most of the things he's done in the last two games, but I'm still not convinced long-term. Also, I wouldn't be letting Hoppoate go, even if he is on 'overs'. Tonga won't last forever, and it's important to have at least one very classy centre in your side.

I would let Sandow go. With Norman and Peats in the team we can afford to replace Sandow with a more solid type half who just kicks and tackles. Would be cheaper too.

On Loko, my mail is that we probably won't see him in 2014 and if we do, he will replace Tonga and not move into the forwards.

On the number of players coming off contract at the end of 2015, this date was mostly driven by the player managers as the NRL is due to complete a major review early in 2015 and the rumour is that there may be a significant increase in the salary cap - player managers have all decided to hold out for a bigger piece of the pie.

And I am not sure who said we aren't looking to buy more players at the end of this season but it wasn't our current recruitment manager ;-)

The first signings we'll see for 2016 will be re-signings, and they generally happen in the off season a year in advance. So, at the end of this year. But if the review isn't until close to the start of season 2015 it will make for a fairly short and hectic silly season.

I'm still waiting to hear about our re-signings for next year. So far we've only heard about Mannah's likely retention.

I'm also interested to know what they intend to do with the 21 year olds in the second tier squad (Ualesi, Gorman and co).

Do what they do every year. Pick and retain the ones they judge the most likely to succeed in NRL and release the rest. Then cop it on social media for letting Manly buy one of our Juniors.

Casper, at 17years and 150kg I don't think that kid has the genetics to play any sport involving even a moderate level of cardio fitness. That isn't me trying to take a pot shot at him either. Just saying it looks like he has the genetics to just always be a massive unit, even if he does lose some of his excess weight, and that it would put his cardiovascular system under enormous pressure playing a sport like league or union at a high level.
Put him on a raw-living food diet cutting out all forms of processed food/liquids and if he excercises/trains very hard and does have a great brain, we could be unearthing the next Arthur Beetson who can play at least 60 minutes of NRL per game in a few years. Many great high-performance athletes were vegan or raw-fooders like Martina Navratilova, Carl Lewis, Wayne Pearce,.... there are hundreds of them. Raw-Living food is the key to the success of this giant of a young man playing top class NRL. Would love to have a long chat with him. Processed cooked shit food and liquids causes a vast aray of physical and mental problems including cardio-vascular.;-)

It is so easy to forget that we're missing 2 of our best 3 props at the moment!
I've been missing your intelligence being shared liberally around this forum lately.
It's f**king challenging having to deal with f**kwits like Poo Poo & ME, etc, who think they are intelligent but are only a faded shadow of your brilliant light.
Keep shining you crazy diamond.

We've got all the frigates, cruisers and battleships in place but to become a formidable and an invincible force we need an aircraft carrier as one of our props down-the-line - enter this 17 year old kid in a few years.

For what it's worth, I reckon David Gower has to stay. I know he is getting paid next to nothing but he offers more than next to nothing. I love an honest toiler.
Your staff, wife and others around you must all be honest toliers.
What a slave-master you are working them all to the ground, day-after-day!!!
While sitting in a cumfy leather couch in front of a roaring fire you must be laughing your f**king head off spitting cognac into the fire.

Suddenly we go from doom with not much stock to jump up and down about to gloom with heaps of players now springing forth looking the goods.
Amazing what a really good coach can do for our club, and lets not forget Steve Sharp, Daniel Anderson, our new CEO (forgot his name - that's how it should be), etc.....
Shows how f**ked Ricky Stuart, Kearney, 3P were for our club. The ONLY really good thing that happened was Peter Nolan and the acquisition of Peats, Semi and a few other players like Mau, Edwards, etc....

Agreed Casper. 3P set the ball in motion when they recognised we needed to bring in someone to build a better development structure. Kearney, Arthur and Nolan were a great group of signings, and they established the 'academy' we had lacked for so many years.

This gave Stuart and Nolan the foundation for the expensive key signings (Peats and Norman, plus Hopoate signed by Kearney) to come into the side. Our outstanding NYC squad (#'academy') gives us options - and therefore a position of strength - for our contract negotiations going forward. Recruitment/retention will be a lot easier from here compared with the constraints faced by Anderson and Kearney in previous years.

The great thing is that everyone in the club can share in the glory of what has been rebuilt. Those of us with the ability to look at the big picture will remember 3P well for what they set in motion.

Great post, Casper.
