He is big, will make good meterage rucking it out (so important in the modern game). Skillfull, but seems not to ever be fully engaged in the game. Not express off the mark, but once moving, the big train can chug.

Someone else might have a better take

Spot on.

He's a tad slow off the mark, and can drift in and out of games, but he loves the contact and is a massive unit.

Tbh, I rate the guy - he may not be a superstar, but a guy with his physicality and frame is invaluable.

Go on YouTube and see his hit against Newcastle.

What should we expect from Falou-A lot on the other site are saying dont get your hopes up most will be disapointed

I will add that his defensive reads are poor when playing at centre. Probabky a good thing he is playing wing.

Give him 2-3 games before the knives come out and questions are asked why he aren't performing like a seasoned origin star. Then we can all move onto our next junior that should debut, because he joins a group of players that are crap and should be moved on....,

The limited games I saw him play, left me thinking he may not have been on the field. While Goodall/Lavaka both seemed better wing prospects.

Wouldn't surprise me if he is a Vai Mach 2.2

Maybe so, but the vast majority of our juniors are vastly overrated. Tepai is the only one that hasn't been from recent memory. What I think is that the game is evolving and with modern technology the majority of players are extending their careers until 35. This will impact the development of juniors. They simply need more time to develop which is another reason why the under 20's should be extended to under 23's and/or more money should be commited to the state cup or return it to the standard of reserve grade from many years ago.

In summary, I have none, but we need to be more patient with our young players.

I wouldn't extend 20's to 23's, I would make NSW stronger. Maybe something like extending NRL squads to 40, with 25 under the cap (increase minimum wage to $100k) and the remaining 15 on $70k or something. It would give younger players (20-25) an opportunity to hang around, train full-time and develop their game with the pressures of making a decision to give the game away as they cant afford to keep plugging away. It would also allow older players that are probably past being NRL regulars but still decent back ups and nsw cup players that clubs can't afford as they need to focus on juniors. These older players could stay in the game longer and strengthen nsw cup and NRL squads.

Imagine the strength of a NSW cup Comp with full-time players, it would be a perfect place for younger players to develop their game

Of course not every young half should be compared to Brooks, just like every young backrower shouldn't be compared to Klemmer or Tepai but there are those that stand out as being ready to play "above" their age and make the transition to FG earlier then the norm.

Dargan has the right wraps on him to make me think that he will be ready earlier then most.
I may be wrong but would be exciting to see us finally bring through another young half. It's been a while.

Well then why did you compare Dargan to him? Why not compare Dargan to Cherry-Evans, A.Reynolds, or Keary? They didn't make their debuts until their early-20's.

He could be ready earlier than most but he certainly doesn't need to be playing NSW cup by 2017 when he's only 19. I have faith in those that are in charge to make the correct calls with not only Dargan but the rest of our junior base.

Increasing the 20's to 23's won't do anything. The best players will play in reserve grade. What we do though by increasing it to U/23's is possibly hinder the development of those that are coming straight out of U/18's. Increasing it to Under 23's just means that the 23 year olds will be playing against 19-20 year olds who aren't as developed as them, how does that develop a 23 year old?

We need to make the reserve grade comp stronger, give younger players more incentive to stay on. Increasing the "top25" as well as giving players who've been at the club a while a salary cap concession.

They compared him to Idris last night. Idris is like a big draft horse. Very slow off the mark, but if you learn how to use him, just get him hitting the ball from 5 mtrs out and if its one on one he scores just about everytime.

I don't watch a massive amount of NYC but I'm getting a suspicion that this is a common trait among NYC players, especially among outside backs, & especially among larger than average outside backs

I heard Guss mention that is why they filled there under 20's backs with speed and skill rather than size. His theory was the bigger stronger guys dont develop other skills as there used to just running over the top of guys but once they hit first grade there physical strength is less of a weapon. While the other guys with skill are forced too learn more to be able too keep pace.
You look at the jennings brothers-DWZ and waqua blake. All skillfull and fast.

We seem to have more bruts than anything as far as backs go.But there are bruts and there are bruts. Falou comes in at 112kgs. That is one hell of a unit.Pending on his leg drive he could be a real asset.

the flip side to that is that you end up with blokes like reece robinson who hasn't seen the other side of a defensive line his whole career

I guesss none of there guys are tiny, there all still strong, like morris boys.

Reece isnt suited to the wing.I think he is a good player. At fullback he would offer more in attack than Hoppa. But on the wing he is a massive liability.
