Rumoured / Confirmed Signings

1.25mil for a Marquee half with the cap going up is about right. Moses would be a top5, pushing top 3 half back.
Nicho will get his extension and a well deserved one, but don't take away from Moses quality. It won't ruin Parra's cap either as they have signed Brown to go with him, and have money for a 9 when one becomes available.

What is the Salary Cap at the moment?

I heard a figure being something like 12.1 million.

If the West Tigers offer was 1.4million a season and he hasn’t taken it he was never going back there. Moses manager has taken them for a ride.

Mansour has a connection with the Newtown coach from the world cup. Newtown has the ability to sign/select their own players. It cost them a gf a few years ago when they picked one of their dipshits on the wing.

Just means less opportunity for Iku/Rodwell/Stonestreet if he sticks around. I doubt he will though as he stinks of a Parramatta type signing.
Might be a benefit in having him at Jets, having a veteran around who played at highest level.
Could be a leader for the Jets during the season

Yeah, but their entire back row, centres and a winger are all nuffies as a result…. They’re gonna have a tough year I reckon.
They have the same backline going into this season, Sean Russell is now healthy. Matterson and Lane aren't scrubs, Hopgood is very good.

Next season when his new contract kicks in, reassess, but a player of his quality, with Dyland Brown and Gutherson, along with their props, they will be fine.

Telegraph with the headline now saying:

Sharks set to re-sign Sione Katoa

Not sure who Simone is but (without reading it either) it sounds like she's decided to resign from her position.

Unrelated, I think Sione Katoa might be about to sign a new contract at Cronulla.

3 more years for big sexy.... love the fact these guys are committing to the club on long term deals. Speaks volumes for the culture Fitz is building the fact that they’re all buying in. Get Jesse and Teig done sooner rather than later and I’ll be a happy camper. Think they’re both in for big years.

Very interesting this one, we have some young guns who I personally think are potentially better than Kotoa at the same age but will now be behind him. If SS walks I will be pissed.

WK will get signed too cos of the ACL to Dykes pushing him back a year or more.

all we can hope is they reach their potential and we aren’t having a negative conversation about SK in 18 months 1/2 through his contract.

Nothing so far to say he won't improve. Its what he's done to date going from a rabbit mindlessly looking for a hole in a fence to one of the better wingers in the game.

If he finds himself 3rd choice winger here in 18 months he'll be pretty easy to relieve ourselves of.

Well, I for one thinks it’s terrific news. I think it can go unnoticed just how much dirty work Katoa gets through - he takes some of the really tough tackle 1 and tackle 2 runs.
Averaging similar run meters to Ronnie and has a better try to game ratio. These young kids might be good, might even turn out better, but right now, we have 2 elite wingers, no need to let either go.
Both Ronnie and Katoa play the game tough, so they will cop injuries, that’s when we’ll see if the young guns can step up to the plate and take the jersey full time, just like Talakai has with the centre spot, just like Wilton has with 2nd row.
Great re-signing.

The main thing with our back five is they have basically become their own team within the team. In turn this makes them a strong unit.
If one was to fall with a serious injury, the next player up will have all the patterns and plays lined up for them. All they will have to do is fit in with their 'team'.
If a young player gets their chance and goes beyond the incumbent player, well that just makes our club even stronger.
Gould already made a big play at both Stonestreet and Dykes, he got Pele and one or two others. Bellamy eyed off Scott and JAC when they were with us.

Our club has become one of attraction for a player to come to, even if it means being here for a few years to learn how to be a better footballer.
Which club would a young players management, and parents, prefer their kid to play for if they had a chance, ST/I or Cronulla?

In the Sharks game plan, back 5 are critical. Katoa, Ronnie, Talakai and Ramien are all strong runners to get yardage sets moving. Ronnie and Katoa are good finishers and Ronnie is exceptional in the air.

There is every chance of an injury for one or both wingers so a reasonable chance Stonestreet gets a shot. Need to see him carve up reggies before getting too worried about losing him.

Stonestreet off contract at the end of this season. Just sayin…..

Hope it’s not another case of a Matt King, Curtis Scott or JAC leaving our lower grades without playing a game of First Grade for the Club and going on to be a star player and win a comp with another Club.

Our biggest loss we had was years back Cliff Lyons.
Him and Gavin Miller same team, we would have a few titles
