Rumoured Targets 3

Don't know if you guys watched the show but if given we're playing Chris Adams in first grade, Chris Hyde, the guy who finished 3rd on the NRL Rookie, would be a good option to have on atleast a 2nd tier contract. He's a hooker and was probably stiff not to win or atleast make the top 2. He's local, comes from Central Coast and played in the Newcastle Rugby League. He's about 28 years old though which might deter us, but he could end up being the next Ross... Something tells me that if he was voted as the winner we might have gone for him, given we only have two hookers at the club currently he'd be worth a punt.

I wonder if the NRL rookie show actually cost Chris Hyde a shot at NRL? The knights wouldn't have been allowed to consider him at the time Adams was called up as I assume there would have been something in the show contracts about signing with an NRL club while you were still in contention.

Geez, the Titans seem to be getting a fair rub of the green with this whole NRL ownership thing. Has only taken them 12 months to assemble a pretty formidable looking roster for 2017. Their future looks bright.

Helps that they haven't had Hagan controlling their salary cap the last few years...

Good luck to the Titans, they've really turned things around in 12 months. Strong off field management has cleaned the place up and Henry has got the roster firing. Adding Hayne, could be a masterstroke.

Its funny that we were both chasing Hokko and who got the better end of the ultimate deal.

The NRL took control of us about 2 years ago and since then we've done f**k all and are on our way to collecting our second wooden spoon in succession.

The NRL took control of the Titans halfway through last year and about a week later they signed Cherry Evans and a year later they sign a global superstar.

Kind of obvious where the priorities lie.

I've asked this question before, what are the NRL doing for the Titans they aren't doing for us?

They are on record as saying they do no interfere in the day to day running of either club. They don't go out and drum up TPAs. They don't give the Titans a different salary cap to us.

There is obviously a slight difference in expertise between Graham Annesely and Matt Gidley, LOL.

Perhaps you should be pointing the finger at the board and their magic beans. They could sack Gidley tomorrow if they liked.

Titans have been smart and lucky. They dodged the Hodko bullet, had Taylor, Elgey and Peats fall into their laps. Smart cap management leaves them with room for Hayne. They seem to have found some TPAs.

Good luck to them.

Mate, we f**ked our salary cap for years to come, the Titans had not mismanaged that area of their business like we did

Our shitty position is ours and ours alone and blaming the NRL for supposedly not prioritising us is pretty silly

Tough to say Taylor and Elgey fell into their laps. Both were astute pickups that we were to incompetent to even look at

Yeah sorry, they had to fight off some clubs for Elgey but Taylor was the booby prize for missing out on Hodko. If only the roles were reversed there.

Yeah you guys are right.

The reason we are in this mess is because we got ourselves here. And we will have to dig ourselves out.

It's just annoying when other clubs who used to be on par with us make big strides forward while we're left floundering at the bottom.

But the new Titans board has bought in a huge of amount of new sponsorship and TPA which have assisted in gaining Hayne. They have also moved on a lot of overpaid deadwood over the last 2 years which have significantly freed up their cap.

They appear to be miles ahead in terms of competency than the knights board and their magic beans and much more proactive.
