Rumoured Targets 3

I don't know how they will fix this with players signing 12 months in advance to join another club as it must be very awkward for all concerned - players / coaches and fans - despite what it said

Sure if a player in Sydney with a family was to sign with a QLD club or Warriors and vice a versa then it means relocation / finding schools and the spouse may have a career and will need to find another job.

But if a Sydney based player signs with another Sydney based team do they need 12 months to sort this out as they more than likely won't be moving.

Surely these scenarios are considered by any player before signing any contract with any team.

Something worth considering in terms of our cap space is whether we have any players on a percentage of the cap rather than a set dollar figure. So if the cap goes up so does their cut. Don't know how common it is but I think it's happened before.

With the quality of our current squad we should have cap space regardless of course, but worth noting.

Not really surprised and I can't be mad at a player for the knights being a joke.

If it's true the chooks offered more I would have questioned Dom's intelligence if he stayed. 2022 was a disappointing year where they were smashed with injuries, but the roosters still won 15 games in the regular season. The knights haven't done that for over 20 years (2002).

I think Dom will probably replace tupou who is turning 32 and off contract, so the roosters will be happy to let Dom play with us this year and won't entertain a player swap.

Lastly, every year I get told the knights must have significant cap space free, because, they just must. But the way they operate in the transfer market suggests otherwise and this is just more evidence. Michael Hagan must be smiling thinking about how the club still overpays basically everyone.

Can it get any worse? This club is seemingly cursed...

This Ponga deal is one of the silliest things the club has ever done.
It is not cursed. This is purely poor and inexcusable cap management. Dom’s deal should have been done last season when he started to show how good he is. I think O’Brien has just turned up the pressure gauge on himself massively after this. His days are numbered.

Connor Watson is an example of that knocked backed a 3 year 450k a year deal with the Knights to sign a 2 year 300k a year with the Roosters

Young if he signed also signed for less - knocked back the 500k offers
What? Connor didn’t sign for less in your scenario. Do you even maths?

It's just staggering to imagine that we're operating on the same salary cap looking at the modern squad disparity. How can generation after generation of knights administrators get it so wrong, so often?

I do think Pryce and KPP situation has made things more complicated. I've got no doubt we had the hubris to think one or both would be here this year.

Probably refused to pay the transfer fee. The club is being run like a Leagues Club not a modern sporting organisation. Wests are tight arses who invested in the club in order to increase their game day Pokie revenue. All the corporate deals available in town are going to them to increase Wests Group financial reporting. The football club will always spend whatever amount comes to them in NRL grants.

Even Fox Sports is saying the Roosters deal was substantially higher than the Knights one.

Stop talking shit.

You better believe I'm going to boo him. Why should I cheer for someone who doesn't want to be here?
Shouldn’t be booing him because he was offered unders by a bottom 8 club, or 500k by a club challenging for the premiership……the decision literally makes itself

you should be booing the club for extending and upgrading players like Mann and Fitz so we can’t afford to keep players other clubs actually want

Deflating. The kind of loss that makes caring about this team seem even more pointless.
Yeah, kind of my sentiment too. It's really hard to find anything to care about or be hopeful about when you look at this organisation. Just has a bunch of sub-standard Queensland mercenaries running out each week.

Peter Parr has performed very poorly since his arrival.
