Tooheys column today full of good news

Clubs priority for backup half is cogger, they will look at clune if cogger knocks them back.
Knights offering 3 years, panthers only 1 year (this tells you why the panthers are good and the knights the opposite). Toohey says cogger looks ok in the panthers structured system but remains to be seen if he would look as good at the knights (Toohey speak for he won't)

Leeds enquired about Miller but club isn't going to release him (wtf?)

Moceidreke on a second tier deal until the end of the year, club trying to find a way to keep him on for 2024

Looking to extend Dylan Lucas, who has taken up his option for next year

I literally can’t get over the Miller thing WTF??? Why the would we block a release when he’s playing NSW Cup on FG money and literally no chance of being a first choice FB or 5/8???

Honestly, if Leeds want him we should get someone to personally fly him over.

At least good to get confirmation that we only see Cogger as a backup. Seems a better option to keep Clune though.

Why do we do this!?

I'm taking my chances on Rivett and an upcoming half before offering Cogger 3 years. He's a 1-2 years max contract at this stage in his career and what he offers.

Ugh. Such a Newcastle Knights column. If we ever taste real success again, it'll be an accident.

I'm still waiting for that good news you speak of Mr. Woody90!

Just going off the Toohey article that Cogger is seen as a back up signing…where it would be worse if he had reported we were after him as a first choice half.

It’s not good news per se, but as Knights fans we need to be grateful for the very small bits of not horrible news hahahaa

Would have gone for Daine Laurie for back up, he would walk into our 6 jersey with a good off-season working on D.

Instead the Panthers get him back.

Cogger is not what we need.

Why the hell would we block Miller moving on... I am sure he is a good bloke to have around the club, but he isn't playing first choice FG here unless they see him as a wing option, which is a massive step down from Dom.

My only hope with the Miller block is maybe Leeds wanted us to foot the entire contact or something and we've asked them to come back with a better offer. Only thing I can think of. Literally can't understand why we'd block it from a squad perspective. Moving him on should be highest priority.

Thought I heard Miller wasn’t keen on leaving, new baby, big move for overseas, maybe he has pulled the plug on moving.
If it was because we had to part pay then I agree with that, don’t like paying someone to play elsewhere.

We sign players on overs and either don't improve them or make them worse. It's not really a huge wonder why we struggle to move blokes on. Why would they leave? lol.

CAP PRESSURE COULD FORCE BRADMAN OUT

NSW Blues centre Bradman Best will test the open market in November rather than commit long term to Newcastle.

The 21-year-old centre is hot demand after his outstanding performance for the Blues in the Game 3 victory over Queensland in which he outplayed Valentine Holmes.

Knights general manager Peter Parr inherited a huge problem with their salary cap and is unlikely to be in a position to match offers from rival clubs for Best.

He is an obvious target for a club like the Roosters, who will need to replace the rugby-bound Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii in 2025.

Roosters will find cap space to fit him in. I mean, what, only 80%* of their team have played rep footy. Poor diddums.

Gotta feel for them. They can never get the players they want, always having to rely on the local Bondi juniors to step up...

* A number I just made up because I couldn't be bothered looking it up. Might be lower, but might be higher.
