Jury still out on that one. For all the talk of young players improving dramatically I haven't seen it. Bit unfair as they're in a shithouse team of course. In terms of the players that might be good one day improvement from last year.
D Saifiti - treading water
Sione - gone backwards
J Saifiti - backwards
Levi - improved
Lamb - treading water
Stone - improved hugely
Would be fantastic to surround them with quality and experience to fairly judge if they are actually any good.
We are comparing them to young players coming in to established teams, or at least playing alongside established players.
Look at Penrith last year - yes they had a lot of young players, but they also had established current or former rep players like Moylan, Wallace, Merrin, Mansour. No coincidence that their young players looked great... I think they are a level above ours anyway, but its not like you can do a blind study in controlled conditions.
Any young player is going to look average when surrounded by average - I reckon you need at least a half dozen established first graders to even carry a few kids, let alone a heap of them.
