I agree with that but when our options are SKD or Aaron Gray I think we need to look at supply and demand when it comes to player wages

Let's also look at the fact that we have a very young team and Dane is a senior player. We need experienced guys along side our young ones too

I'll be happy to see Gagai gone. We don't win any games with him so the only way is up without him. I'm sick and tired of watching our "strike center" do nothing besides miss tackles and get dominated.

Make him someone else's problem and let them waste their cap money on him. Win - win for us

Aaron Gray is most certainly worse than Dane

Mosby is a winger

So in the end we get cheaper, but ultimately worse players

If you think Gray is "most certainly worse" than Gagai then clearly you are the type who judges purely on reputation and the papers. If we replaced Gagai with Gray our team would be no worse off regardless of salary.

I am aware Mosby is a winger. You are obviously not aware that Ross is a serious centre option for us.

Your last sentence has no place in the world of a salary cap.

Well, without knowing the size of the Souths offer I'm more than happy with the Knights offer for Gagai if Toohey is accurate.

650K for a centre of Dane's ability is tremendous money and exactly what I thought he would be offered from us.

If he bags 700K plus elsewhere he has won the lottery like a lot of other good first graders recently.

Good luck to him. He has to take the money. Glad he isn't foregoing hundreds of thousands each year, every year to play in Brisbane. Not sure if Souths have a squad capable of doing too much at the end of the season in the next few years though.

If they grab Gags we should have a proper crack at Aaron Gray. Good young player.

In what world is Gray a better player than Gagai?

You'd be the only person here who would want him over Dane

My last sentence is relevant when it comes to our salary cap. We could offer Graham and Cronk $1m each answer still give Gagai $700k easily. I see no point in saving $$ and getting worse players if we can't spend the money we already have free

I would prefer to have 2 good young players (Gray and Gela-Mosby) for the money we would spend on Gagai. Both good young players with plenty of upside. Not sure Gags can get any better.

Question is whether Gray and Gela-Mosby would come here.

I could understand all this debate if it was over a player like Barba, J. Reynolds or Foran...a talented player in a key position but with a bit of baggage.

But it's Dane f**king Gagai for f**ks sake. An above average center who wants elite money. If he's baulking at 650k a year, then let him walk. Above average centers are a dime a dozen these days, and for every talented junior like Gagai who dazzles through the grades and thinks he's king shit and deserves to get paid handsomely, theres journeymen like Ross who can do everything the highly touted junior can do but for a fraction of the cost, and are just waiting for someone to give them an honest chance to prove themselves.

So you're saying that any and all future potential signings will make their decision based on what Dane Gagai does.

Puh-lease

No. But it would be more of a hinderence if he left, for sure. We'll have more cap space but no rep players. Players join clubs they see as heading for future success. Losing him just puts us further into rebuilding.

If he re-signs then that's a good positive PR boost for the club and an indication that Brown has the backing of the playing group. Players will be more inclined to join then then if they saw him leaving a sinking ship. Really isn't hard to understand.

Gagai has never scored as many tries in an NRL season as Gray has. Gray's worst season he only played 12 games and still scored as many tries as Gagai did in his best year(7).

Souths have not been heavyweights in that time either.

Gray scored four tries in City-Country last year. He is a good player.

If you offered me both at the same price I'd probably take Gagai. When Gagai is asking for the most money of any centre in the game and Gray would be less than half that, I take the trade.

That's a silly argument

Gagai scored 3 tries in SOO too if we are playing that game

Ah ok a superior track record is a silly argument for why Gray may be within Gagai's realm.

Should just stick to the last six months' headlines, during which time Gagai has not helped us succeed at all.

Lol ok mate

I've not seen anyone agree with you yet that Gray is a better player. All you can offer is a try scoring record and a pretty meaningless cvc game

Souths have had a far superior pack and a far superior halves pairing in that time. You think that might have something to do with his better number of scoring opportunities maybe
