Seems like we wait on Maloney becoming available if not get by with current squad for a year.
Also seems like we are waiting on over salary clubs dropping a experienced prop or two for us to grab.
Signings could be a bit slow over the next month or two

A big NO to Benji, he's always played his best footy when he's not running the show. i.e. when he played with Scott Prince at the Tigers and for a little while at the Dragons with Widdop a couple of years ago. But at our club he would be expected to run the show because he wouldn't have a dominant organizer with him and he would end up trying to hard and over-playing his hand.

On top of the above points I just don't like him either, he's played probably 2-3 years of good footy in his whole career but has always carried on like he should be a future immortal.

Besides I think if we're looking for a good ball-running half we've already got Watson coming next year who is about 12 years younger and will probably offer more than Benji at this stage anyway.

Also Lillyman would be a good signing on a 1 year deal maybe with a 1 year option in the club's favour.

Benji Marshall is offered a 100,000 again by bennett for next year.now i know we are chasing maloney but if that fails,who else is there to grab.could give benji a 1 yr with and 2nd year option in our favour so we will wait for a better player to come around down the track.he still playing fairly good footy and im sure even for depth a 200,000 would be a chump change with the amount coin we got saved up.

Just on halves, I heard this morning that Tits are packaging up a $1 mill a year deal x 3 yrs to keep Ash Taylor...

I think we've done well to stitch up Watson and Ponga, I think Levi is going to be at least a first grade quality number 9 for our spine (I personally think he has a higher ceiling than that)...If Maloney doesn't come off, I think the development of Lamb, Phythian and/or Cogger is probably going to be the best we can expect for 2018 for that 4th spot in our spine.

And not to detract from healthy competition for spots but I think, barring injury, Brown will need to pick early and stick to whoever ends up being his first choice of those 3 to let some genuine combinations develop, regardless of how we go in first 3rd of next year.

While I fully understand and accept what Brown has done for these past 2 seasons on the mix and match front (some enforced and some on glaring lack of form), we need to bed down a team that knows they will be standing next to the same bloke each week for us to really get some significant improvement in consistent team performance in 2018.

EDIT: just realised I hadn't included Hodkinson in there...but I actually hope he is playing ESL next year, which would be the best thing for him and for us going forward

I think that's the way it will go, Maloney or stick with what we have, if get another prop or two will be better for the halves, give the young ones chance to develop along with Hodko for one last year. If we get Maloney I think Hodko will leave.

His form has been better too. But he needs to be the dominant half and own the kicking game when Watson is herr next year.

I understand that it was a while ago but he led his team to a grand final and played in the only origin Series win NSW have had in 10 years. If you guys can get a halves coach like Andrew johns things may be different..

Joey is a weird one. Ate up pressure as a player but off the field was a train wreck. Cannot handle the pressure if coaching but it comfortable wearing a target on his back as a talking head at Channel Nein.
