Still want Maloney for reasons that are unclear. He pulled a Darius and basically refused to play for the last half of the season.

I've gone pretty cold on the idea of bringing in any half after Watson signed, to be honest. I'd like to see how our young spine develops together, all of them have shown plenty to suggest that they each have a first grade future in the game at least.

If we have $1.5mn to spend, which positions are you looking to strengthen?

I'd be after the best prop money can buy and probably another outside back. Lillyman and Heighno can spend most of their time in Cup.
.
I think the halves are almost certainly the weakest position we have on paper, but I don't think it benefits us that much to get a 12-24 month proposition in the halves like Cronk or Maloney. I like Maloney as a ball player, but his defence has always been pretty suspect. Cronk I'm just not keen on for the amount of time we'd have him at all, the idea never really sat right with me.

If there was an Ashley Taylor or Anthony Milford on the table then yeah, I'd be more keen on the idea of a half. If I were looking at halves I would want a top line talent with a lot of tomorrows, not a journeyman... just based on where our recruitment cards have already fallen, I guess.

Yeah that's probably how I feel about it. Prop and centre first priorities.

Looking at current squad I think all positions appear covered except for long term injury to a halve or centre, think centre is weakest. Cogger and Hodko along with possibly Pythian and Johns cover but wouldn't want it long term. Don't have anyone that stands out to cover centre even short term is a worry, possibly Hughes and maybe Chanel but definitely not long term. You could throw in Sione but not thinking it will happen

A little better depth in the halves would be nice but I'm more than happy atm with who we have especially when you look at players like Maloney and Milford who have huge deficencies in their game but want a million a season.

f**k that.

Top of my list would be a seriously solid prop and a top notch defensive centre who can also pass. Another good utility type back would be awesome as well.

Would like a good half but it doesn't look like Cronk is coming here and I've already gone off Maloney, he was pretty poor this season and was worst in the comp for missed tackles and penalties which I feel kind of overshadows the good stuff he does. Also he was carrying on a bit towards the end of the year and came across as a bit self entitled. A mate of mine knows a few guys who are in the Sharks setup and apparently Maloney is a very lazy trainer and doesn't do all the little stuff that you would want your senior players to do. Obviously you take that with a grain of salt but if there's any truth to that then he's not a guy we want around the club.

Considering we need a centre, apparently Chase Stanley is off contract. Maybe he could be good value for money if we got him cheap?

Idris was raised as an option earlier in the year just before he ended up at the Tigers and Brownie said then that he was not the sort of player that he would be looking for or that this club would be the right fit for him...intimated that he would not fit into the culture Brown was trying to develop in the playing roster, so I wouldn't think anything has changed from that stand point 12 months on

Idris is not what this club needs imo. He's a bit of a liability both on and off the field and hasn't seen out his last 3 contracts which is a bit of a concern.

He also seems like he's a bit prone to having a mid-life crisis every now and then and deciding he wants to go climb a mountain or travel the world instead of play footy. That's fine by me but if he wants footy clubs to take him seriously he needs to be committed to being a professional footballer day in day out rather than just when he feels like it.

Agreed. People called Mullo a mental midget be compared to Idris he the guy out of Shawshank Redemption.

Just lol at Idris.

On the list of players you would never waste a minute of consideration on Idris would be at the top.

The moment he declared he did not want a club or coach telling him what to do (when at the Titans) was the moment all the rumours about his attitude and lack of commitment were confirmed in the public domain.

He is the very opposite of what a club needs in its ranks.
