Rumoured Targets 3

This is pie in the sky stuff but there's rumours floating around about the Chooks wanting Cronk. If they get him they'd have to let Pearce go. We'd probably be the only club in Australia able to afford him. Would you sign him?

He's useless at Origin level and in the big games but is pretty bloody good week to week. We have little experience in our halves outside of Hodkinson who has proven that he isn't up to First Grade. It's very unlikely but if Cronk does decide to play on it certainly could be an option.

I've heard those rumours as well mate but there's no way that the chooks are letting Pearce go. They've invested 10+ years in the guy and stood by him during several misdemeanours which most clubs would have sacked him for. They're not going to let him go so they can sign a guy who's got maybe 1-2 years left in the game. If the chooks get Cronk they'll be having their cake and eating it too.

They will move Keary to the bench

Would take Pearce in a heartbeat but roosters will find a way to keep him. Probably the best we could hope is that they need to offload a player that we can snavel up.

Pearce would just move to 5/8 and keary would take Watson’s bench spot.

Unless we find a experienced half I believe Hodko must stay, see out his contract and then go. Gives the young guys another season for experience and combinations and another year to pick up a quality half if the need is still there.
If he plays reserves most of year so be it, means the young guys are going well and he can help them at training to develop and he does cover if injury occurs and all halfs play better if forwards are performing and we definitely look better in that department.

I'm only in favour of moving Hodko on if there's actually someone better to spend that money on. If we're still $1.5m under the cap right now it's hard to see us even using all of that cash right now anyway. And if we're looking to sign guys for 2019 then Hodko's salary wouldn't count for that anyway because we know he won't be re-signed.

So it's not the worst thing in the world having him around as injury cover for another year. It's clear that Lamb and Watson are our first choice halves pairing at this stage but we're looking a little bit skinny in the halves if one of those guys was to get injured.

I think Hodko is on borrowed time with his knees anyway. He wont last a 26 week season so i dont think there is much danger of him seeing a lot of FG nor anyone really looking to sign him up

Hodko is a hindrance to the team for the most part. He can kick goals. Tick. Unless they are from 30m out and needed to tie up a game!

He is a liability in both attack and defence. Yes he has a nice pass on occassions and yes he can tackle if not required to move much as his knees are effing shot as we all saw when Brown brought him back in.

He can't be anything other than a back up half for us now that hopefully is not needed too often.

One more year of the Hagan legacy before we are free of his clangers unless by some miracle some club somewhere in the world has hired Michael Hagan. Then we are a chance of moving Hodko on.

Anyone interested in Tyrone Roberts? Still without a contract and never wanted to leave in the first place. I'd throw him a bone purely for depth and competition for spots. I'm also aware that Ty is a fantastic trainer as well. It could rub off on some of the younger guys

I’d take him back for 100-150k, definitely not for the 300k he was on here. But would be good for our nsw cup side and some depth. Always like Tyrone. Could do worse.

He would kill it in the ESL tho and be able to get more money

Would prefer Tyrone to Hodkinson. As mentioned he's cheap and would want to come back. Certainly an above average back up half.

The other thing Tyrone has developed is versatility...he got thrown into any hole they needed filling at the Titans and was always serviceable as a stop gap when he had to play out of position.

I'd be happy to see him back here and putting some competitive pressure on the young halves and giving us some halves depth

If Brown is thinking about what to do with his spare change then we could do a lot worse than Tyrone Roberts. He'd be a pretty good backup to have and he'd have to take a pay cut to come back but as previously stated $100k - $150k would make him a good value signing. It would be interesting to have two guys who've both played 100+ NRL games as our back up halves.

Tyrone has shown his versatility with Titans, would be good buy, type we need, plays several positions well, especially in the halves, kicks well in open play as well as goals.
Forgive my ignorance but why did he leave in the first place that now he would want to come back, was it a money thing?
