Do we have the smallest pack in the league? I can't see how we can get any smaller when we have both the Saifiti brothers injured...

We have two massive units in the Saifitis who would have to be two of the bigger bodies in the comp but everyone else behind that is on the smaller end of the scale unfortunately which is made even more obvious by the fact they’re both injured at the same time.

I am not sure. You may be right. I just said that he is one of the most dangerous dummy halve's in the game.

Yeah definitely, he is a wizard out of dummy half. I just hadn't seen enough of him to know if his defense was anything special.

Sucks to miss out on Fergo. Lee was a nice consolation prize though, and probably comes with less potential baggage. Still probably leaves us a back short in the squad.

I can't say I'm too disappointed with that. I reckon its a good chance of unravelling again for him at the Eels. Better them than us.

But I will be absolutely livid if we don't get some props soon.

Otherwise, we will continue to suck balls.

Missing out on Fergo does suck but it's not biggest concern. As many others have mentioned, we need big, powerful, skilled middle forwards. A backline of:

1. Pongod
2. Lee
3. Raimen
4. Sione/Moga
5. SKD
6. Watson
7. Pearce

Is more than good enough. Need quality middle forwards who'll make the yardage we need to score points.

Newcastle will struggle to sign players from other Sydney clubs, because many players don't want to move to and even take their family to a regional city. If they are already in Sydney, such as Fergo, then the players often prefer to move to another Sydney club.

Personally I believe that we should be located at Kogarah, as I believe that we face the same problem with trying to lure players to Woolongong.

Getting Fergo would have been nice but missing out on him is not a disaster. I would still like us to get one more decent outside back before next year though. The further that Ross and Sio are from first grade next year the better imo.

As we all know front rowers are the big priority though, need another two front rowers minimum to be competitive next year.

Mooney is in charge of recruitment, so none would be a good start

Didn't stop people from calling out Brown for not luring Aaron Woods to the club or really any other target we've missed out on. The blame tends to shift to suit people's narrative. If they don't like 'X' player, then it's not an issue but if they do? Well then, some make it out that we need to sack him.

It will be interesting to see if we look at Corey Oates and whether he'd be prepared to come as a wing option - seems he's indicated he wants to be a second rower going forward in his career.

I'd think he might be worth looking at as an alternative signing in the role we were looking for Ferguson to take on but I'm not sure what sort of value he would present as a 2nd rower and I know we seem to have some depth there. The other thing would be that his motor in the forwards is untested at first grade level

What do others think of him as an outside back option(at the right price) or could you see him adding value as a forward signing?

I think we will are looking at being in deep shit again re props. Can anyone see us getting 2 or 3 decent big men before next season?

Unlikely. Have a look at off contract list, outside TPJ there is no one better than king left. Maybe we win lotto late in the year again and get one good one, but 2-3?
