We should be patient cos it would appear that the Warriors players who have been demoted will walk given how their culture over there is all over the place and the lunatics run the asylum. A bloke like Matulino or Hurrell with Brown's level of discipline could be a huge leg up around here.

Also, this rumoured targets thread makes me laugh. Why would a quality player like Matulino come to Newcastle? He'll have five Sydney clubs offering more money chasing him if he leaves the Warriors.

Yeah, Matulino and Hurrell on 2 year deals would be worth it. Hurrell would be a bit of a punt because he can be rocks and diamonds, but his rocks are an upgrade on what our guys can produce.

Matulino would be a good signing and would probably be our best forward.

If NRL are serious they will block fringe players being offloaded to keep stars. It surely has to be a case of 2016 contracts being null and void as a first step.

Why? They are all under the same cap and they'd have to get rid of a lot of fringies to even equal one stars contract, probably more than is possible as any player brought up to replace someone in their top 25 would need to be on minimum wage ($80-100k ?)

As it stands, they will have to lose at least 1 decent paying player, more likely 2, if they are to get themselves under

Looks like we now have a bit of insight into the Knights' recruitment strategy, we've been saving up money just waiting for another team to rort the cap and get caught for it and then we swoop in and take their discards.

I could be wrong but I think your top 25 players need to be on minimum wage.

If 3 go you need another 3 to replace them. Unless those 3 you mentioned were stupidity placed on a lot more than minimum wage contracts cutting them alone won't get you under the cap.

I'm not deluded enough to think Newcastle will sign anyone from any club but getting rid of a few bottom dwellers isn't going to get you under the cap.

Cutting Watmough on the other hand will help and you'd be extremely lucky about that given he was finishing up anyway.

How are those 4 nobodies going to cover $575K?

If Parra are allowed to get rid of nobodies and keep the stars they so blatantly cheated to get on board it makes a mockery of the whole thing.

Just means when we get a new owner, first thing they should do is cheat the cap in order to jump ahead 10 years of development and pain. Looks like it will work for Parra...
