Rumoured Targets 3

Good news. This type of signing would've been our marquee in years gone by, so glad those days are over. Mann will prove valuable with his versatility and he's by no means the worst player running around. He's the right age and with good experience.

I was beginning to doubt that we'd sign anyone decent for next season but honestly, 2017 & 2018 combined have seen the best recruitment in our history.

2019 season needs to hurry the hell up.

Hooker is interesting. Mann looks skinny and gangly but he spent some time in the forwards this year and wasn't trampled. He's got a halves background and is quick enough for the wing - just like Damien Cook.

I think Brownie has made an astute one here

good signing with a lot more upside and value than Rossdog who is probably o the same money.

Buhrer is only signed for 1 more year and I would assume he will be offered a much downgraded contract to extend or be released.

Has to be. By all reports, Levi- along with Barnett and Sione- have been training the house down in the preseason. I think we'll be seeing massive years from at least two of those guys if they can string together a full season.
There's no way those two will both be in first grade..

Not so sure about that. I think that potentially our best pack and bench rotation is:
8-Klemmer
9-Levi
10-Saifiti
11-Sione
12-Fitzy
13-Guerra

14-Mann
15-Glasby
16-Ese
17-Barnett
Think Glasby/Esee to 13, Guerra to 11, Gavet to bench, Sione or Barnett to bench the other to reserves. My choice Glasby to 13, Esee bench, Sione bench, Barnett to reserves. Either way is a very good pack/bench.

that's the pack I like.. Glasby is a bench forward and that's where he's had success before so I'd keep him there. He also adds the experience on the bench. Dsaf will benefit from the experience of starting with Klemmer. I'd have both Sione and Barny in my side. Barny is under rated on the forum and Sione is a kid who has a bright future if he's allowed to string 2 seasons together in the one position

Hard to judge either Sione or Barnett on their careers so far given both have never played in a dominant pack. Looking forward to seeing how they perform with some cattle around them.

And Gavet didn't come here to play reggies.

Damn it's nice to have these sorts of selection headaches for the first time in what 20 years?

Indeed, Dsaf in a pack on the front foot will be a sight to behold. He's been exceptional to carry our forwards on his young shoulders for so long. It'll be great watching all of our young boys enjoy winning after enduring the embarrassment and humiliation of getting flogged for so long.

He played half of this year there.

If Fitz and Guerra aren't starting second rowers it's because one of them is injured.

Toohey had an article a week or so a good saying the best 17 basically picks itself apart from choosing Sione or Barnett on the bench.

I agree with that but Brown had Buhrer and Lamb on his bench for Round 1 this year, so who knows.

Barnett looked like a bloke who'd be a lot more effective from the bench last year.

Will be intriguing to say the least as to how we line up if we get through pre season and trials with everyone fit for R1.

I think the most contentious spots in the 17 are:

2. Lee or Ross
13.Ese'ese or Barnett

17.Barnett or Sione

- Lee ahead of Ross due to size

- Ese'ese must be the lock, we will see his best football after a bigger, less mobile body takes a hit-up. This will allow him to use his speed, footwork and offload. Taking the first hit-up of every set is a waste of his abilities.

- Sione ahead of Barny due to utility value and potential. If he doesn't perform, Barny first in line.

A starting pack of:

8.Daniel Saifiti
9.Danny Levi
10.David Klemmer
11.Lachlan Fitzgibbon
12.Aiden Guerra
13.Herman Ese'ese

is mouth-watering.
