Good signing if he avoids serious injury, but if he does a knee or pec or something like that badly in his first year it becomes a pretty terrible contract.

The same could be said of virtually any signing.

He will be 33 before the end of next season and has a history of back injuries(does this not sound familiar to the watmo situation?). If he picks up a serious injury he isn't coming back from it, and he provides no value off the field working in the rehab group. Even if its a less injury guys that age are going to take longer to get fit again.

At 32/33 he isn't going to produce enough on field to provide any value for money, there would be better props earning less than the reported figures. For him to be good value he needs to be on the field and training paddock with these young guys influencing them. If hes injured doing rehab and on the sidelines he wont be influencing anyone. Anyway like I said good signing it just has an increased risk due to his age and the length of the deal.

Theres a lot of IF's there.

Given he is a current QLD and Australian rep player, your statement outright, that at 32/33 he isn't going to provide any value for money is ludicrous.

Are you serious?

The current Australian and Qld prop won't provide value on field

If we don't pay overs we won't get anyone. Guarantee you though, when Bromwich and Fafita are off contract they will be getting more than 700k if they test the open market.

Not if you are paying him 700k, that's overs. I bet Bromwich doesn't make that, or Fifita.

James bloody Tamou is getting 750K a year from your club before this coming cap increase. He is last on the list of all the players we are discussing.

What JM said x 1000.

Tamou wouldn't be earning half that if he didn't have Matt Scott to work off the past few seasons at club level.

He's been massively disappointing at rep level - almost bog average at best for NSW. I thought Gould would have been acutely aware of this. In fact, bog average is being a bit too complimentary.

Meanwhile, Matt Scott with 6 broken vertebrae, 4 bulging discs and severe nerve damage (as seems to be the common perception of his back problems) has absolutely ripped and torn in for QLD, year after year.

I can't believe Penrith paid those $$$$ for Tamou. He needs to improve out of sight to justify that spend.

Can we put a stipulation in his contract that he must retire from Rep Football prior to coming here?

Bugger NSW I don't want him getting hurt and missing games for us.

Yeah I knew what you were talking about.

Just making the point that Scott is fantastic for Queensland too, they rely on him more then people give credit for. If he maintains anywhere near his form for the last few seasons at the Knights then he's the best forward we've had in 10 years.
