Would hardly say Ennis performed at rep level but he was a top shelf dummy half for quite a few years there. Ennis was unfortunately born 4-5 years too early, abit like Matt Burton at penrith
I was taking about Greg Bird as the dickhead who only performed at rep level. He had few good years at Cronulla but was inconsistent and often under performed for the Titans.

The recruitment panic of some clubs is crazy and totally reactionary. This competition is like an overpriced suburb. It has domino effect on the surrounding suburbs house prices.
Zammit is actually a really
Smart operator. He has clearly told Gagai he will need to get real about his price tag or go elsewhere. Finucane’s value is more to do with lack of backrowers on the market. He is a good player but his price tag is utter BS. No thanks.
we need to focus on our junior player development and run with that.we have the money to keep them now. I have an entire argument for why re-signing Joey when he was nearly gone to Rugby was the biggest error this club ever made. We lost Ennis, Bird, Franze during or around that period where we were paying Joey insane dollars. It cost us BK as well. I actually believe had Joey gone we could be a couple more premierships rich. Imagine we could have done with Ennis and Bird as our leaders!

The Tigers will sign him for 800k a year and immediately regret it.
Takes more than a player or two to build a culture.

Step in the right direction though. Our Finucane signing was Guerra- just on less coin. His signing led to Pearce’s, who led to Klemmer and so on.

Difference is Tigers are in Sydney, and a player can go to 5 other teams in Sydney who aren't an absolute rabble. So they have to over-pay for all of them. And Tamou was meant to be their Guerra signing.

Players generally come here in part for the location and lifestyle.

Used to like Vaughan but not a position of need now and it's nice not having any real tools around the club.

You look at what he's contributed to the Dragons' mess this year. No thanks.

I think the club should be building around character first, talent and potential second. I would want to steer clear of trouble makers first and foremostm

Maybe if he was a gun edge forward or outside back you might draw up a pros and cons chart and still come up with a no but you wouldn't even bother getting the whiteboard marker out in this instance

DSaf on Toohey's podcast says he and Jacob are both well down the line on extensions and want to be the starting props long term. Says they've never talked to other clubs for previous contracts and don't plan on doing it now either.

I agree with the first half of the assessment, letting arguably the greatest league player in history go would of been an absolute disaster.

Joey Being re signed was not the issue, was the absolute poor recruitment and development club wide which left us in an absolute heap, the amount of players we have lost in the last decade isn’t Joey, imagine the team with cordner, Latrell and countless others that left the catchment due to being told either not good enough, or just missed in general.

2 year deal is good too. I imagine we signed him close to minimum but enough of an upgrade for him to re-sign. Also will be interested to see where he is in two years time, whether he's still a bench regular, manage to start or has been overtaken.
