Yep. They’ll escape it with the local media in the town but they’re responsible for this mess.
The writing was on the wall when Connor left. That was the one where it was like oh, the brief moment that players wanted to come play for us is over. We've only done dumber shit since.

There's many reasons why he would have went I reckon.

Newcastle is big fish, small pond scenario. Now he gets to really join the big leagues and be part of that Sydney / Bondi lifestyle which would be so appealing for a bloke like him. Oh and the Roosters generally have great success.

The most disappointing thing for me is we're meant to be building towards a better squad. He was part of that journey to making us a better team and now we take yet another backwards step and quite possibly head into 2024 with Marzhew, Tuala and an ageing Hunt as our top choice wingers.

Good luck to him. I don't know what efforts the club went to, to keep him, but in a way I'm glad we didn't blow it all just to keep him.

Tele reporting Dom to Roosters.
If this is true, there's no other way of spinning it - it's a massive blow to the club. Brought him over from England, made his NRL debut with us, is our most promising young player and after his first full and breakout year is leaving to sign with another club. Can we just die already?

Oh well at least I called it since June last year, but the rumour is its the other winger he'll be replacing.

Tupou at the Roosters is starting to plod a bit..

Probably just about my favourite player on the team. He's still raw but he has a lot of upside.

How long do we have him for/what year is he going to replace Tupou at the Roosters?

How long before we lose Dom (probably to the Roosters) or ruin him?

That sucks. Looking forward to the article from News Limited saying that they’re giving him below market value and less than what we offered and everyone just accepting it as the truth.

No hard feelings but I hope he loses all of his hair and gets the clap.

Maybe if we didn't throw stupid f**king money at that lazy merkin ponga to appease his meddling father, we could have kept the one shining light on our roster 🙃

Well there you go . Let’s see how it’s reported elsewhere.

If true it’s pretty dumb on our part. We won’t overpay the only good player we had last year but will overpay literally everyone else.

Hope we can do some sort of trade for this year and get a decent forward out of it.

Mhm, you did. Sadly we're at the point where satire and reality meet.

The most disappointing thing for me is we're meant to be building towards a better squad.

Incredibly we're actually getting worse - and not over the period of one off season, but multiple off seasons. Our squad could reach Rick Stone-era levels of bad soon.

Early release for Dom?
It's always difficult when you know someone is going.
He'd be an asset for us this year if his heart is in it but maybe we should look at filling some gaps and letting the Rooters pay for it.

For the record. I'm sure we have the money, it's not an insurmountable amount. I'm skeptical if he's worth it to us at that price. In a winning team he might be sometime in the next couple of years.

I mean if the decision was to go to the Roosters for more money and win trophies or stay with us for less then there's no-one left to be angry except our management and coach. Dom would be a top tier moron if he didn't leave.

I'm not too frazzled. Didn't really have high hopes that he'd stay, and I'm not sure we'd get the value out of him that the Roosters will.

Yeah sure, don't give money to the only exciting player on our roster. It's ok, let him go to the richest club in the country - we have Tuala and Hunt to replace him!

Maybe we can stack them on top of each other to try and match Doms heigh

You want to know the really hilarious part though. We're the only club that could pay Dom more this year to compensate. If we threw him a 3 year extension + upped his pay 300k this year - we could have matched the Roosters offer for $400k impact to our cap 2024 onward.

So either we have nothing in the tank, which would be extraordinary, or our bean counters belong in kindergarten. OR - we were so arrogent that we thought he wanted to stay that we lowballed him.

Another funny element to this is that AOB is so desperate to keep his job - he has to keep picking Dom. So we, the paying customers, get the pleasure of watching a young Rooster running around for us this year at least until AOB inevitably gets the sack.
