They seem to have the ability to sign marquee players such as T Rex, add depth through the year such as Inu and Perrett and retain pretty much whoever they want.

I agree with the comment that they are betting big on a huge increase in the cap, if it doesn't come off, there will be tears.

I thought Tolman was off contract at the end of 2013. Is you friend suggesting a release? I doubt it - the Dogs seem to be the club doing their 2013-2014 recruiting and retention with a 1.5-2 mil cap rise already factored in.

The Dogs are playing a game. With the exception of Stagg and perhaps Goodwin, everyone else would be on minimum contracts, hell T Rex would be earning more than the lot of them.

They are betting big that the salary cap jumps considerably.

They were after Foran who then said he resigned with Manly for a lot less than what he 'could have got', with the mail been he signed with manly for about 400k that suggest that the Dogs were offering him about 550-650k a year. Money that probably then went to T-Rex but who knows if they were after both Foran and T-rex.

Add Ennis and Eastwood to the list of big money players, plus Josh Reynolds is going to cost plenty to keep.

Dogs have always been able to put a roster together and miraculously strengthen it.

Look at the losses, only Jon Wright and he wouldn't have been on massive money, the rest outside of Stagg would be on chicken feed, hell we've let go of more cap space than them and we've signed Scott and Gagai, whilst they added Perrett, Inu, T Rex and resigned a swag of players.

I remember reading a story about the dogs wanting Tahu when he was new to FG, so they chased Mad Dog hoping he would price Tahu out of Newcastle, but Tahu went and signed a modest contract with us, spiking the plan.
