Actually you’ll find these pathways programs are very expensive, especially when you have a large full time staff. We have finally done this at our club, whereas the likes of Melbourne and Easts have been doing it for decades. Volunteers trying to get local kids to try out for SG Ball isn’t how the big clubs operate.

Don't forget the balls, cones, boots, bags...

It all adds up

I didn’t watch last night. Have seen the highlights. Just wondering if Papalii’s hair is still a problem? I see he failed to tackle Tioia on the goal line so I’m guessing it is?

Cmon, they replaced players who started and all of them played NRL. May have been impacted by the coach and cap constraints, but it wasn’t and isn’t good enough really as extensions and wages that impacted are on the HOF and staff.

If the signings are sheeted on to the coach, what the heck does the recruitment manager do at the club?
I’d say the coach has a lot more influence over retentions because he already has relationships with all the players.

I think Joash is warming as a shoe in for 6. Walker takes the heat off and facts are that Peroxide Papalii goes OK.

He did some good things last night, but I don't see a ball player there.

Little things like the ocassional bad pass, or a double pump when it should have been a quick pass, little things that say to me the natural ball playing ability is just not there.

Should they have been squad fillers when you could promote a junior and give them experience and a pathway? Just a question btw
We didn’t have the juniors ready at the time due to spending cuts during Covid. Yes Covid affected every club but not in the same way. Plenty of people and organisations got wealthier during Covid, however the PLC wasn’t one of them.

Well he’s way ahead of the other contenders IMHO is my point. Unless a 6 suddenly appears on the market, then it looks like he’s out starting 6 Rnd 1.

Last night’s presser suggests that his instructions are very vanilla.

This is not me on the Joash train BTW, but he is going OK, rather than being dissapointing.

if he stays at 5/8, he's a place holder for what's his f**king name from cup to mature

Is this gonna be like where you try to manifest us signing Doueihi every year, and then go silent after the Tigers end up bidding against themselves and resigning him?
I had to abandon that plan when AD started playing great footy and winning us games. The manifestation was quickly aborted and 2 years at $350K will do me nicely.

Jack Bird on the other hand.......
TBH Birdy is a great bloke to have. His attitude and effort has been first class this year, i just think his body isnt up to it any more, particularly to play the game we need him to. Another club might get value out of him, but I am not sure how. A bit like when Joffa went to you guys, i wanted to keep him for him as a human.

I always root for the underdog Pat.
Well we kept you alive for 24 hours at least

9th is looking a chance yet again for the poor old tigers.

Though it wouldn't surprise me if all these results went your way and on that last weekend and you then only have to beat the Titans you fluff it up.

That Galvin dropped ball against Souths over the line to win the game could be very costly come the last round

Moses mentioned in the press conference, they have just given him "simple things" to do.

Also said he has been good, defence has been great and he is good at counting numbers (which you would expect from a fullback)

And I am eternally grateful. To be mathematically still in contention with 3 games to go is, well.....very exciting!

I'd have sold my first born for ninth at the start of the year.

The most Tigers result possible

Fitting that the last thing Galvin ever did for the Tigers was screw us.

What about some of the behaviour from some Roosters fans at the ground was appalling.

Had me wondering if I was at a dogs game.

Drunken Roosters fans turning around everytime we made a mistake giving the Khod to a few parra fans in there who were Lebanese who they didn't even know trying to cause trouble.

The cops eventually came and escorted a few out in the 2nd half.

They looked like self entitled flogs.

i feel like we have a few place holders atm

expecting more youth in the team over the next couple of seasons given the inclusion of perth and PNG plus ESL teams increasing their overseas player quotas

I'd like to hope not, but for whatever reason the club obviously didnt think there were sufficiently skilled juniors available or they would probably done that.
Exactly. We did it in the years before and after. But to ‘have juniors coming through’ requires investment, which means money.

Well if Lorenzo forces him out, then I find that exciting. Bring it on.

It’s not often we have had competition for a spine spot between a few decent contenders.

No disrespect to Api BTW, he might be in the fight too.
