Rugby league players are still at their peak at 30. They probably start their slide somewhere around that point, but it isn’t rapid unless injury takes them down.

Depends on the peak to.
Plenty go up and down on form. But are still in peak.
Id say Haynes age wouldnt be why he can't get to peak. Just out of form.

See this is what I don't get. It's the Nathan Cayless effect, Player was good for a season or 2. Player is a good bloke and captain. Would not make any other NRL squads. Player stays at parra for way to long and NEVER recieves offers from other clubs. Fans still defend player even though he's captain and team are underperforming.

With a salary cap every team needs you Mannahs. Unless he is in 600k which i highly doubt. Id say 300-350.

You are talking crap now, contradicting yourself!!

If we are keeping players that are crap, that no other clubs want, wouldn't that meaning we are over achieving not under performing by finishing top 4 ???

Any you merkins in the know heard anything about M Jennings to Newcastle ?
Admit I haven't followed every page of this thread (as have no interest in Hewitt/Tennis) but have had this mentioned to me today. I hadn't heard it mentioned before?

Hmm seems there may be something to this or The Lurker reads these forums.

Former NSW and Australian centre Michael Jennings continues to be linked with Newcastle.

Jennings plays right centre – the same position as new Eels recruit Jarryd Hayne.

I keep hearing coach Brad Arthur won’t play Hayne at fullback next season.

Parramatta has denied the club is under any salary cap pressure and can comfortably retain Jennings.

But there are rumblings out of Newcastle that Jennings is a target.

Jennings would also have played with Knights recruits Mitch Pearce, Connor Watson, Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Aidan Guerra when at the Sydney Roosters.

Knights coach Nathan Brown may be on the verge of capturing his second big signing of the off-season.

Mannah would make every other top 17 in the NRL. This doesn’t make him elite though. There are at least five middle forwards in the top 17.

Anyway Mannah’s tackles per minute are at the elite level, and his metres per carry are above average for a middle forward. Otherwise he’s average.

We had an awesome prop in Junior Paulo. We should of pissed off Mannah and used his cap space to retain him.
He got a massive offer from Canberra. He wanted to leave. To keep him we would’ve had to match overs.

We’ve been able to keep Mannah without paying overs precisely because there hasn’t been huge demand.

I don't understand the right centre thing. Arthur said Hayne will defend on the left with Norman in his interview after Hayne signed

Jennings plays both sides. Proven by the fact that he swapped in 2016 to babysit Moses.

TBH if I had to chose between Hayne and Jenkovic at centre. I'd pick Jenkovic.

Wasn't one of the attractions for Jennings when he joined Parra that it was closer than Bondi to where he lived? Isn't he at Castle Hill or something? Up and down the M1 to Newcastle for training each day will be a hard slog....

I assume that Jenkovic would only be interested in the move if it extended his career beyond 2019.

Any ideas (i.e. speculation) on what Jennings is on for 2018?

I was happy enough to see Hayne back as long as it wasn't for stupid $$ & we didn't lose anyone of importance.

Interestingly.. the alleged initial source of the rumor at my end was supposedly someone close to the Titans.

Agreed, Jennings was the best defensive centre in the comp last season. His work with Moses after switching sides was amazing.

Based on 2017 form i would too.
At end of 2016 you would of picked Hayne.

At end of 2018 I wonder who we will all favour

I think its been WELL discussed by fans and BA himself, that Hayne has already agreed to play where BA decides to play him.

If that is left centre getting early ball off Norman, then that's where it'll be.
