But you can also manufacture Tolmen a fair bit easier than you can Masons.
Those players might be more common (and cheaper) but that doesn't mean they're worse players.
Des is flawed a bit in his thinking in that he didn’t necessarily need to go out and buy Tolman. He could have produced him in house.
Tolman's output in attack and defence was massive every single week. He played long minutes and had a high workrate during those minutes. You obviously don't need such a player in a rep team (because you have an entire pack full of quality) but in first grade it means a backup (or even a fringe first grader) only has to play 20 minutes, or not at all.

The NRL isn't full of Aiden Tolmen. Blokes with that kind of stamina usually can't even stay at 90kg. But I agree he's boring.

Vave is worth minimum wage only to us. If he wants more, then that's great, because he can just pack his bags and f**k off.

He's probably worth 20k over minimum wage. There's probably a (depth) spot for a fat bastard that is a known quantity in the NRL. If we had a young fat bastard who was kicking the door down we probably wouldn't offer Vaevaealiki anything.

20k over may mean too much spare kfc change

I'm currently re-watching Arrested Development and I don't remember him saying this.

I didn’t say you don’t need Tolmen in your side or that they’re worse players, just there’s little benefit in buying and therefore likely overpaying for even the best Tolman. Aidan isn’t even the best Tolman

29-year-old Vave has reportedly explored options with both NRL and UK Super League clubs, but would prefer to stay in Australia if he can earn a decent gig in the country.

Parramatta have reportedly offered Vave a below-market deal in the hopes of keeping him at the club as part of a forward rotation, but his strong performances in a struggling side could earn him a contract elsewhere.

Should he not land an NRL contract, three or four English clubs are monitoring his situation closely.
Wow what a scoop! And you’ve written your post in such a way that I reckon you could get it published as a journalistic article

Glad to hear that to be honest.

I guess the whole thing with guys that are back-up quality is they only provide real value if they're on back-up coin.

Kinda makes sense when you think about it.

You dont get rid of good players who are great for club. Jennings was shed from Panthers due to attitude and same went for Roosters. He was still playing great at both clubs. We picked him up at end of career. Once again jacked him up for retirement.
Now we knew he wanted to play for a local team as lived in Castle Hill and Penrith were not going to take him back. So what did we do? Continue paying him huge dollars and give him a contract with option in his favour! Wtf!
Will we ever learn? The only club available to him was Parra yet we gave him a contract IN HIS FAVOUR. We were holding a straight flush but folded when Jenning's agent went all in!

I was totally against signing Mennings when it happened ... but he was great for 1.5 seasons .... i know he has been pretty f**kin average this year, but surely you merkins have got to acknowledge he had been good for us prior to that .... he has hardly been the lone ranger of shitness at parra this year
