Why not say it turned out to be an expensive one year signing cut short by our salary cap situation. It cost us a lot of money but thankfully not so much cap space, which is the real currency in today’s game.Lets just say it was an excellent signing.
Ba well done
It was his final years as a professional footy player, and those comments came after he realised it was over. It just came across to me as nostalgia. Watmough was the kind of merkin who did whatever it takes. If the club needed more leadership from him they would have gotten it. Watmough was regretful because he missed out, not us.I doubt anyone asked him directly if he was a poor leader so it's not very likely you'll get a quote stating exactly that. But I don't think it takes much reading between the lines to see that's what he was getting at.
The merkin keeps my business goingI think he prefers to snort maccas
So most of the people judging his performance are being influenced by confirmation bias.Gower does lots of talking. Read 60s guys training reports. Most likely reason why BA signed again and I reckon he will get a gig on coaching staff or training next season.
Watmough was signed for 4yrs and most on here hated that it was more then 2...
Ok drive home safely. Long day hey. I been home since 5.I am leading the way.
The interview was not after he realised it was over. It was 2016 preseason, when he thought he was good to go. And the bit where he says that he was just "trying to get in and get out and get home" is clock watching stuff. In other words poor leadership. It was his final years as a professional footy player, and those comments came after he realised it was over. It just came across to me as nostalgia. You hated the player, you didn’t like the signing, and so after our cap blew up and he agreed to retire to get us out of the shit you blame him because he got a full payout (which didn’t hurt our cap). Then in hindsight you say his performances were shit when the stats prove you wrong. You also latch on to his dopey ruminations to mean whatever you want them to mean.
I didn’t think he was a good signing at the time, but I thought he was necessary (like any player signed for too long or on overs). In hindsight he turned out to be a better signing because he was only on our cap for a year. It worked out perfectly. If he had known he wasn’t going to play beyond 2015 he probably wouldn’t have gotten surgery either. He ran for nearly 600 metres in his last six games for us. His defence was strong all year and I saw first hand his leadership in the 2016 pre-season. He might be a moron and a dickhead, but he is a pro on the field.
That almost sounds like confirmation bias after Pou watched a couple of preseason training sessions and 6 semi decent games of rugby league which led to him falling in love with Anthony. The interview was not after he realised it was over. Yeah, you're probably right.Nah you're wrong.
Busted knees. What does everyone think is Watmoughs favourite chocolate brand is?
All it means is that he didn’t want to socialise. It’s not a requirement for leadership. The interview was not after he realised it was over. It was 2016 preseason, when he thought he was good to go. And the bit where he says that he was just "trying to get in and get out and get home" is clock watching stuff. In other words poor leadership.
He was probably only ripping in at training cos he wanted to get it over with before the sticky tape holding his knee together melted. That almost sounds like confirmation bias after Pou watched a couple of preseason training sessions and 6 semi decent games of rugby league which led to him falling in love with Anthony.
He played lock and we had guys like Paulo and Wicks who needed carries.Just under a 100mtrs a game . WOW
Quite average for a starting 2nd rower isn't it?
I never liked him. But credit where it’s due. In fact I don’t like plenty of our players. That almost sounds like confirmation bias after Pou watched a couple of preseason training sessions and 6 semi decent games of rugby league which led to him falling in love with Anthony.
He also talks about harbouring resentment at Manly. It paints a clear picture of a man with no enthusiasm for his job. Other players would sense this. All it means is that he didn’t want to socialise. It’s not a requirement for leadership.
